cowboys:
attempting a rebound from a 4-12 2015, the cowboys will have a shot at the playoffs playing in the always weak nfc east. with the yearly 6 games against division opponents, dallas can win the division if tony romo stays healthy and dallas performs well within the division. still, the non-division slate is hard. dallas has to play the afc north and nfc north, which combined to field 4 playoff teams last year, and have 2 teams (detroit and baltimore), with realistic chances to rebound from down years and contend for a playoff spot. a late season home game against tampa bay will be winnable, and going on the road against san francisco isnt a daunting task, although they could be improved with chip kelly.
overall, dallas plays a tough schedule, but with tony romo healthy, a .500 season is within reach, and may be enough to put dallas in the playoffs given their division. the key will be winning games against nfc east foes. |

panthers:
the defending super bowl champs will have a great chance to earn a 1st round bye again this year with a relatively easy schedule. carolina opens the season with a road game with the defending afc champion denver broncos, but denver may not pose much of a threat without a legitimate quarterback. kansas city and oakland could contend for playoff spots this year, but carolina is the better team. a home game with the chargers isnt scary. the toughest part of the schedule is playing the nfc west, specifically the cardinals at home and seattle on the road. san francisco and st louis dont seem to pose much of a threat. the division looks to be weak as always, expect carolina to go at least 4-2 within. washington and minnesota, 2 2015 playoff teams, will be underdogs against the panthers.
the toughest stretch may be games 3-6, playing 2 of 3 division opponents on the road, as well as minnesota at home. even in that stretch, carolina could run the table. |

giants:
as with the cowboys, winning the division isnt an unrealistic goal playing in the nfc east. new york opens the season with a road game @ dallas, and finishes with 3 division opponents in the final 4 games. its the nfc east foes that matter. still, the giants will have to rack up wins outside of the division, and this will be tough. dallas plays the nfc north, including the vikings and packers on the road. the afc north will also be a tough slate, with the only seemingly 'easy' win being cleveland, although new york will play the browns at paul brown stadium. new york lucks out in the sense that 1 of their "road" games will be in the neutral united kingdom against the rams. playing the saints at home is also much easier than trying to beat new orleans in the mercedes-benz dome.
overall, a tough non-division slate means new york will likely have to at least 4-2 within the division to make the playoffs. if the giants can turn games against mediocre opponents in to wins (think los angeles, detroit, new orleans), then the giants have a real shot at the playoffs |

packers:
green bay couldnt have asked for an easier way to rebound from a rough 2nd half of the 2015 season than the schedule they were handed this year. the packers play perhaps the 2 weakest division in the nfl in the afc south and nfc east. expect green bay to go at least 6-2, with a realistic chance of going 8-0 against those opponents. this slate of games almost automatically puts green bay in the playoffs. outside of this, the schedule is a it harder. playing the nfc north twice wont be easy, but thats not to say its the hardest task ever, either. minnesota and detroit will be challenges, as will chicago, but none of which cant be overcome. the packers end the season with 3 straight division games. outside of that, the toughest game is a home date with seattle. a road game against the falcons shouldnt be too challenging, either.
all in all, green bay has a pretty easy path to the playoffs in 2016. as long as they dont completely collapse this year, the packers should be a postseason team for the 8th straight year. |

COWBOYS KEY STRETCH:
the first 4 games of the year will be extremely important for the cowboys. this stretch includes division games with new york and washington, as well as mediocre non-division opponents in san francisco, and chicago. if romo is healthy, a 4-0 start isnt off the table here. starting at least 3-1 with a division win will be important for confidence. |

PANTHERS KEY STRETCH:
the panthers play a large stretch of games that will all be important to start the season. denver, san francisco, and the vikings at home are all beatable, and the 3 division opponents come next before a bye. the panthers could easily get out to a 5-1 or even 6-0 start to begin the season, and getting those early wins, especially against division opponents before their bye is important. |

GIANTS KEY STRETCH:
division games are always the most important games in the nfc east, thus making the final 4 games for new york the key ones. the giants play dallas, philadelphia, and washington, the latter 2 on the road to end the season. these 3 games should go a long way in determining the division winner. also in that slate of 4 games is a home test with detroit, with whom the giants could potentially be vying for a wild card spot with. |

PACKERS KEY STRETCH:
green bay's most important games come from weeks 5-10, immediately following a week 4 bye. in this stretch, the packers play 6 straight non-playoff teams from 2015, only 1 of which is from the nfc north. if green bay is to rebound from a tough 2nd half last year, theyll need to rack up the wins from early-to-mid season against weaker opponents, both to garner momentum and to gets the dubs in the win column. |

patriots: new england is faced with a tough schedule in 2016, but nothing they cant overcome. once again, expect new england to finish over .500 in the division. the only time the pats play ac east opponents back-to-back is in weeks 16-17. outside of the division, the going gets rough. the nfc west slate will be tough, especially the season opener in arizona. fortunately for new england, seattle is a home game. an afc north slate wont be easy either - the pats play 3 straight afc north opponents - two of which are on the road - in weeks 5-7. other than that, houston shouldnt pose much of a threat, although a road game at mile high could be difficult.
the biggest question mark for the patriots is weeks 1-4, games in which brady may be suspended. if so, arizona on the road will be the toughest game of the season. regardless, expect to see the pats in the playoffs once again.
KEY STRETCH:
weeks 1-4 will be key for new england. if brady is suspended, its important that jimmy g keeps the pats afloat with at least 1 win in the first 4 weeks, although 2 or even 3 is more than attainable with weak opponents in buffalo, miami, and houston, all home games. if brady isnt suspended, getting out to a good start is still important, especially with 2 division games there |

colts:
as long as andrew luck is healthy and the colts are in the afc south, theyll have a great shot to make the playoffs. the key is winning division games, especially against houston. indianapolis faces an unpredictable afc west, and going 2-2 against the division should keep the colts alive in the playoff race. the road games against denver will be tough, and kansas city isnt an easy opponent, but at least the colts get them at home. who knows what to expect from oakland and san diego. the colts also play a very tough nfc schedule, against the north. indy couldnt have received a worse draw, getting the packers and viking on the road. detroit and chicago at home are beatable. games against pittsburgh and the jets will be difficult as well.
again, the key here is playing weel within the division. 4-2 is a very realistic division record, and as long as the colts go .500 against non-division opponents, theyll be fine. if they beat the texans twice, indy could even fall to 3-7 against non-division opponents and still make it in.
KEY STRETCH: the first 4 games after the bye will be crucial for indianapolis. this stretch includes division games against tennessee and houston, both at home. if the colts can win these 2 games, they should be in the drivers seast moving forward. also schedule here are the steelers and jets, and the colts should aim to go at least 1-1 against those fellow playoff contenders |
