okay so some of you are really good at distinguishing different kinds of sub genres (esp metal) and i just want to know how the hell you know of the existence of so many things. Like how is there a progressive metal, heavy metal, death metal, -core metal(s), etc. and with so many of them how to you remember all the differences.

First you get acquainted with one of them. You try to learn what defines it. Then you start to branch out a little bit. You tackle the subgenres one by one. You will remember them better this way. It also helps to research a little.

| The longer you listen to different sub-genres, the more you're able to tell them apart. Pretty simple. |
