There are targeted for people of one generation by people of another generation attempting to write stuff that they think will be entertaining when in reality they don't understand anything about the age group. Its basically like a teacher trying to connect with kids by wearing a backwards cap and talking in a broken 70s swag dialect.

Also, animation and jokes are cheap so they can put out more horrible content in a shorter amount of time.

"There are targeted for people of one generation by people of another generation attempting to write stuff that they think will be entertaining when in reality they don't understand anything about the age group." this is the same for the 90s
cartoons are just meant to be a product, always have been |

I felt like I should have said that... Most cartoons = product, but good cartoons = entertainment.

Randomness can be funny, but it has too be done...really well. Personally I would rather an engaging show with slight moments of randomness and lol comedeyz!! Steven Universe does this great, it has it's little moments of the lol randomz but has an incredibly engaging and very...idk even know how put this just a well made plot that immerses you in. The characters feel real, they have actual conflicts, they fight, they make up. They have trust issues due to past judgements and such. And overall Steven...probably one of the best child characters ever written.

the only changing factor in cartoons was your age as the audience.
animation only got better, and the jokes entertain the young like they should still.
