The Nightwatch Project was started well before vampirism was cured, and was originally intended as an alternative to death when a solider was infected. It is a long term treatment that counteracts the effects of vampirism, using a serum derived from the vampirism virus itself, and various exotic herbs. In order for it to be effective the treatment must begin within a week of the subject being infected, but treatment is most effective when done right away. It is not a long term solution, as the virus can sometimes become resistant to certain inhibitors, and the results of missing even one treatment can be disastrous. Furthermore someone who has undergone inhibitor treatment can not be cured of vampirism by any known means.
Stage 1 Someone who has begun treatment within 24 hours. Subject has slightly faster healing than normal, better perception, and are slightly faster. Stage 2 Someone who has begun treatment within one week, has missed multiple doses of stage one inhibitors, or has grown resistant to stage one inhibitors. Subject heals even faster than stage 1, but no where near as fast as a true vampire. In addition to even greater perception and speed, they also begin to show signs of increased strength. Their eyes are very sensitive to sunlight, and they must wear sunglasses or another form of eye protection. Stage 3 Someone who has missed multiple doses of stage two inhibitors or has grown resistant to stage two inhibitors. They heal almost as fast as a true vampire, and have extreme levels perception, speed, and strength. However sunlight gives them sever burns, to the point of them not being able to function during the day. Stage 4 Someone who has missed multiple doses of stage three inhibitors, or has grown resistant to stage three inhibitors. At this point they are almost indistinguishable in ability when compared to normal vampires, however they become completely nocturnal, and begin to grow fangs, which are be pulled with minor discomfort. Once someone reaches this stage they are forcefully injected with a tracking chip, and their doses are carefully administrated by someone else. Stage 5 Subject is considered a normal vampire, and should be terminated as soon as possible. |
