My school is one of the lowest in Illinois, and I'm way above the country average, so I naturally get dragged behind in school. I wish to become homeschooled to be "free," mostly because of my school not having computer science, robotics, or animation courses. Specifics:
-I wish to be self taught. Books and internet sources are enough. I don't need to spend days on a single lesson, I know when I'm done with one and am considered quite mature. -I am mainly interested in computer science. -The projects/essays should not have a deadline- I wish for them to be a hobby. Use animation as an example because I'm an animator. If I come up with a project or teachers propose one, it usually has a deadline. I hate deadlines, and I want those projects (creating programs and animating) to have no time limit. -I wish to get rid of stress.
So, any idea where I can go or how I can do this?

@Pennyroyal_Tea See, that's the thing. I have no idea how it is and I can't trust anyone who put stuff on Google's front page, but I know that some RTers are homeschooled. Could you give me some more info about it?

@Asperitas I don't trust anything on Google's front page unless it's a gov website or someone's experience. That experience part is why I came here; I found no government website.

Hey there, MrSquer!
Thank you for sharing this with us. Now, you may be ahead of people in your school, but remember, life isn't just academic work. If you homeschool, you will probably be lonely as you will be on your own, working long times. You may think homeschool is better, but it isn't. There is more work usually, less friends and horrible hours, as you wake up and start working then. However, don't take advice from 'ROBLOX talk'. Go online, or ring a society who can deal with these problems. We aren't experts, but they are. Any problems, feel free to send me a PM.

"The projects/essays should not have a deadline-" what if you're a designer for a company and you have a deadline let's say 4/7 what are you gonna do? say you don't want a deadline and get fired |

| I'm home-schooled and I really like it, it gives you freedom to learn about what you want to learn about (well, you still need to do english, math, ect) |

@Palypo "i'm guessing you just got into high school and you dun goof'd already but this how school works"
I'm in middle school and very bored and annoyed by being at Sophomore level.
""The projects/essays should not have a deadline-" what if you're a designer for a company and you have a deadline let's say 4/7 what are you gonna do? say you don't want a deadline and get fired"
Let me rephrase with an example: say that in school in ELA we have to make a project, a skit of sorts, one that has nothing to do of ELA. If it has nothing to do with ELA, I'd most likely postpone it and wait until last minute. If there's something I like, then I can work on it on my own hours with maybe double-triple deadline (a lot less scrambling and stress). It's not a perfect system, but I won't get into college with white stress-hair that way.

Yeah, online schools are a good option too if you want to do it from your house.
But for the most part you're better off looking on professional websites rather than RT. They'll probably give more insight into how to actually home-school yourself and possibly the pros and cons of it. |
