Is it just to be edgy and hip or something? Sure, everyone has different tastes and all that, but the majority of peoples "tastes" are honestly awful. A lot of rap songs nowadays are mind rotting one hit wonders meant to turn a quick buck.
People need some more Guns 'n' Roses and AC/DC in their life
That's some real music right there, 30 years later, it's all still popular as hell
A little bit of country is good too, like Zac Brown Band or Kenny Chesney |

You're one of those kids... that guy that thinks his musical tastes are superior to everyone else's. Let me guess, you sit alone at lunch?
What you think of as mind-rotting, other people think of as catchy. Rap is great.

Hmm, I don't exactly recall saying that, so if you can kindly point out where I said it?..
I'm just saying there are other choices of music out there that are a little more worthwhile to listen to, not limited to the ones I listed |

You didn't say it, you implied it.
and "worthwhile" is very subjective. There are rap songs out that that took more skill and talent to make than songs of other genres. I listen to all types of music, and every genre has bad songs.

If you misinterpreted something, that's on you, sorry bud.

Yes, obviously every genre has its highs and lows. Other genres however, typically have a little more substance to them rather than it being mainly centered on violence, the thug life, and "omg muh daddy left me blahblahblah"
Most of the kids I see who listen to the mainstream low quality rap (what I'm referring to) can barely work around the built up spittle in their mouth while talking and think they're badass because they sag their pants |

Why do so my people listen to country ? Why do so many people listen to rock? You can't really get a straight answer because that's just there taste in music I use to listen to acDC., mettalica etc but over the years I kinda got out of it and started listening to rap because I like lyrical artists from the 90s that's pretty much all I listen to not necessarily for the beat. just to hear a story being told I guess idk lol

| Same goes for the mainstream pop music or whatever that every radio station in america is auto-tuned to play 24/7, so this isn't only for rap |

@cybr
Did you even listen to the song I posted. It's not the typical rap song, the lyrics actually have meaning and provoke emotion

Please stop stereotyping an entire genre based on just the mainstream stuff. Also, a lot of rap reflects everyday life in the hood and such, so of course the songs will have lyrics about violence and such in them. Just like country music usually contains things about country life in them, it just makes sense.

| Oh boy, we have one of those people who only locks in on what they want to see and ignores everything else. By the way, this might sound like some kind of sjw stuff but from what I've seen people who listen to a ton of rap and look up to the thug rappers and crap tend to start acting just like them. Perhaps that's what's wrong with a lot of the world today - there's not many quality role models, and people tend to look up to the wrong ones. Food for thought. |

I can't tell you how wrong you are, because I'm a very civilized person and still love rap.
Nothing wrong with looking up to a rap artist, many rap artists do have good, upstanding qualities that are worth having.
I don't act black at all, I just appreciate the rap genre.

| all of my friends listen to rap and i have a lot of friends. they all make fun of me for listening to classical and death metal. gojira and insomnium are my favorites. and no i am not satanist i actually believe in Jesus, to turn away assumptions. i am just a systemizer of a person, i see structure and progression as more appealing than repetition and beats. it is more rare, but in my experience people that play instruments are more into other categories, while people who have no understanding of music structurally, like rap. |
