Different modus operandi. Zodiac's kill pattern suggests he lived in the area. Zodiac killings and Bundy killings (as well as DNA found on Zodiac's letters) directly conflict. Bundy was in jail during some of the killings (before he escaped).
Unless you're talking about them being the same in nature, and not being the same person. Regardless, it's important to think from the perspective of people afflicted with sociopathy or psychopathy. They don't kill to kill, they kill for the control. It's sort of an addiction, and it is a mental health problem. Not saying that excuses their crimes, but they don't do it senselessly.

"Sociopaths and psychopaths have control over there behaviour, theres no excuse."
Remember that sociopaths and psychopaths are separate. Sociopaths are more competent, especially if they're high-functioning sociopaths. Certain types of psychopaths are more along the lines of schizophrenia, and there are types that are more similar to sociopaths. And like I said, serial killers aren't excused from what they do because of a mental issue, but they don't necessarily kill because they enjoy the actual act. It's all about control. Sadism stems from something different, USUALLY.

Except that article fails to mention that Psychopathy and Sociopathy are COLLOQUIALLY referred to as the same thing. But they're not. Sociopathy is caused by external events (not always traumatic, but usually). Psychopathy is genetic.
(Would have gone with using an actual psychology journal, but Wikipedia's kinda reliable sometimes too).

"Ok and?"
That's one of the biggest differentiations. The fact that they are different isn't even the point I'm trying to make, though. The more common Cluster B personality disorders (AsPD and NPD, more specifically) are generally centered around control. They don't kill because they like killing (usually), they kill because they like the control rush. And seriously, what's the highest level of control anyone can possibly have right now? The control over another human life. Like you said, they have control over their actions, but that lust for control is the very thing that sorta makes them LOSE control to get control, if that makes sense. More often than not, they're able to satisfy that with killing insects, then small animals, and some are even able to stick to those lower-tier things. Those people are arguably the stronger-willed PDs. Some don't even need to resort to killing at all, and are perfectly able to find control elsewhere (e.g. manipulation for sport). A lot of crime detectives have even shown signs of AsPD and NPD. Still doesn't change my point, though. By definition, serial killers could be considered evil (or even Cluster Bs that kill smaller animals), because they are seen as immoral by the majority of society. And that's where the term Antisocial Personality Disorder comes from. AsPDs will often go against the norms of society to the extreme. Most Cluster B serial killers aren't sadistic in the sense that they enjoy causing pain, they enjoy the feeling of control they get from it. Two different things. I think all of us have an insatiable lust for control, I know I do, but AsPDs and NPDs (the ones who end up becoming serial killers or animal torturers, at least) are the ones who are willing to take that to the extreme.
