The title says it all. Level Doors or no Level Doors?

Level doors can feel a bit lazy, but free roaming can be much too long of a walk. You should do whatever you're better at building at- interior spaces or outdoors

Free roam or doors depend on the type of game. Is the game a puzzle based game or is it an RPG/Obby. Puzzle based games require so that your players dont feel like there isnt any progress and it lets the game load a new level, if its an RPG/Obby then doors arent really required, sure for RPG's they prevent inexperienced players to roam around and die or get too experienced really quick.

That's a great point. Don't forget adventure games, though.

Always depends on the type of game and it's settings.
