Even PCs can emulate consoles with the help of emulation programs like Dolphin..
And you can get the disc images for free...

oh yeah emulating the NES and a SEGA Genesis is definitely the equivalence of a console.

the good thing is that consoles don't have as many bad indie games as Steam does |

The good thing about PCs is that they have the potential to have good hardware and hardware is often customizable ( Graphics card, processor, RAM etc ) and thus you can have great performance, even better than that of a console.
And the games in PCs are vast, not just in Steam. Developers can make games as they please in Source engines, if they do not plan on releasing it to any platform on PC otherwise their games would have to be approved in major PC platforms like Steam to make it. There are many more good games than you think there are..

@Catboy
At least I don't have to buy a whole new PC just for performance, unlike consoles. In fact, all consoles have the same hardware. There are also budget parts. I ordered a GTX 750 Ti SC which is 120$, has good performance and is OEM friendly and 2 8GB RAM chips which cost 100 bucks altogether. While PCs may cost more, we have better performance up here
As for the Steam part, then I wonder why millions of gamers go to Steam.

If you are by any chance seeing the new releases, keep away from the New releases section of Steam, top sellers section under any game category is where all the good games thrive.
