Me: Hard drive
Teacher: Wrong, memory.
Me: OMFG R U SRS. They both do V.V

Harddrive is long-term storage, doesn't require power to keep it in it.
Memory is short term storage, does require power to keep it, however its ridiculously faster. |

memory is also known as RAM. a computer stores temporary data in it's RAM, so like if you're playing a game like GTA V. the traffic's AI files are stored in the RAM.
the hard drive is where data is stored and it's not temporary unless you delete it
