==INTRODUCTION== In 1977, the United States government discovered several Russian “mini-subs” in rivers in the eastern and midwestern U.S., including the Mississippi River and the Hudson River. The submarines were equipped with minor nuclear weapons and some were found with small teams of highly trained Soviet soldiers.
As a result of the United States’ confirmation of the Soviets’ warlike intentions, the U.S. and its allies, including Canada, France, Western Germany, and the United Kingdom, declared war on the U.S.S.R. Soon after, the U.S.S.R.’s allies, including China and Korea, pledged to aid the Russians in the war, hence starting what would be known as World War 3.
The war lasted many years, as both sides were careful with their moves, knowing of each other’s nuclear capability. Despite this, a combined force of U.S. and Canadian troops had made it into eastern and southeastern Siberia and were nearing the Chinese border by 1982, and the British, French, and German forces had retaken Eastern Germany and taken down the Berlin Wall but were halted by a large Russian counterattack in the same year.
In 1985, a short truce was signed that was to last six months, and the forces of both sides dug in. Towards the end of the six months, in February 1986, the Chinese government, who were already panicking due to the large amount of U.S. and Canadian soldiers that had now made it into the border, launched a nuclear weapon at the U.S. and Canadian forces. The forces that weren’t decimated by the warhead were scattered and began a full-fledged, unorganized retreat across or near the Chinese border.
The U.S., shocked at the unexpected atrocity, launched a missile of their own towards Beijing, prompting China and Russia to fire at the U.S. mainland, destroying many important cities along the U.S. west coast. Eventually, missiles were sent to almost everywhere, including the rest of the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, China, and many other parts of mainland Europe and Asia. All of this happened in less than 48 hours.
In total, over 750 nuclear weapons, 10 times the power of those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were launched by both sides, and the governments of the United States, Canada, Russia, United Kingdom, and many others completely fell apart. Many countries that were neutral and were not hit fell apart as well due to heavy amounts of radiation.
There were, however, many countries that survived the bombs and radiation: Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, New Zealand, most of Australia, most of Spain, Portugal, and many South American and African countries survived.
Ireland, like many others when the bombs fell, was extremely confused on what was happening, as they completely lost contact with the United States and Britain and were not able to reestablish contact. After a couple of days, radiation from Britain that had drifted across the Irish Sea as well as from Northern Ireland reached the Irish mainland, including the capital of Dublin. The eastern counties of Ireland were evacuated to the south and western parts afterwards.
Also around this time, Ireland managed to establish contact with Sweden, who both knew what had happened at this point. Contact was eventually established with other countries, including Norway, Australia, and New Zealand, and a small alliance was created. Later in the same year, Sweden and Norway began to send small expeditionary forces farther into mainland Europe. Contact was lost with these forces within a month, except for two, who returned with extreme burns and wounds, claiming they had been attacked and had been exposed to high amounts of radiation. The survivors later died of varying cases of radiation poisoning. However, this did confirm that life still existed
Meanwhile, in Africa and the Middle East, many warlords rose to power, ruling with an iron fist. These would not be discovered by the remaining European countries until the 1990s.
In Central and South America, many of the drug syndicates managed to survive and thrive without the presence of the United States. Mexico, Colombia, and other nations would have great difficulty dealing with revolutions and attacks sponsored by these drug lords.
By this time, radiation had spread throughout almost all of the surviving countries, including Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Spain, and Portugal. Any operations were halted for another six to seven years, depending on where the country was located, to focus on cleaning up the radiation and protecting civilians.
Before this, Sweden sent military forces to Central and South America to see the situation, and met with the Mexican and Brazilian governments, establishing alliances with them. They did not, however, make any attempts to enter North America, after the previous expeditions had failed.
Australia and New Zealand began to also dispatch reconnaissance teams of their own, but to Asia. They found many southern Asian governments completely decimated by radiation, as well as the Japanese government. They did not make any further attempts into Asia and recalled the teams.
In September 1993, after most of the radiation had cleared, the Irish and Norwegian governments proposed what they called Operation Noah’s Ark, the goal being to attempt to help set up new governments or colonies in the decimated countries. The Swedish, Australian, Spanish, Mexican governments, as well as most of the other governments agreed to help. The Irish were to set foot in the U.S. and Canada. A small carrier was specifically ordered for the operation. On January 27, 1994, the LÉ Fianna, the first Irish carrier, finished construction and was sent across the Atlantic Ocean to the U.S. mainland, carrying what was designated as the 1st Irish Expeditionary Brigade, which consisted of multiple ARW teams, as well as Irish, Swedish, Norwegian, Spanish, and Portuguese soldiers. Multiple teams were then dispatched across the northern east coast and Canada with the objective to simply search for survivors and inspect the ruined landscape.
==FACTIONS== There are no groups as of now, so you may RP as anything you please. Just don't be "Genral bob jones age 69" or anything. Be reasonable.)
Republic of Ireland; Sweden; Norway; Spain; Portugal (The Coalition): This alliance's goal is simple: Search for survivors and reestablish a government in the areas affected by nuclear warheads and radiation. Their soldiers, however, are not discouraged to defend themselves if needed. Their forces consist mostly of highly trained soldiers and special forces operators equipped with radiation-proof gear. They also have a specially designed vehicle often referred to as the "RV" that deflects radiation and provides the soldiers with shelter.
Drug Cartels: After the fall of the U.S., many South-Central American drug cartels took this as an opportunity to do what they pleased. Soon, many cartels had taken control of governments and eventually made their way up north and into the U.S. Their operatives are hostile to almost all they come across and especially the coalition forces.
Mexico: One of the South-Central American governments still free from the drug cartels, Mexico agreed to help the Coalition in exploring the former U.S. They are very hostile to the drug cartels, and will stop at nothing to keep them from taking over Mexico or any territory in North America.
U.S. Army: When the bombs fell, a small U.S. Army unit, the 51st Infantry Division, was training in a part of New York far away from the urban centers. Because of this, many of the soldiers managed to make it to bunkers and survive. After hearing of other countries finally stepping foot back onto the U.S., they jumped at the chance to be saved. The 51st Division now works with the Coalition.
Survivors: There were very few survivors, but there were still some. Most of them lived away from the cities and began moving towards them, while others managed to survive in bunkers or even their basements. Some of them are mentally stable, while others are completely insane and will attack on sight.
==LOCATIONS== New York City: Once a sprawling urban center, this city is now nothing more than ruins. It is the site of many Coalition forward operations bases.
Alpha Base: The main coalition base in New York, it is located within New York City and near the almost collapsed Empire State Building.
The "Breeding Ground": The "Breeding Ground" is what Coalition soldiers call the site where the most cartel mercenaries are found. The Coalition has yet to make a successful assault on the base.
==RULES== 1. Do not FRP (fail-roleplay), RS (random shoot), or be an annoyance. Just follow the storyline and be realistic.
2. This directly correlates with Rule 1, but do not RP as anything ridiculous or edgy, e.g. "mister who (time traveling pokemon)". Just don't do anything that involves any technology not available at the time of the 1990s. And no time travelers, in case you already didn't notice.
3. Once/If groups come out, you MUST not RP as anything above the rank that you are in the group. If you are not in the group, you cannot RP as anything above a private.
4. The only groups that are restricted to group members only are the special operations units of the Coalition countries.
5. No trolling, annoying anyone, etc. This will result in a PERMANENT BAN, SON.
6. There is no APTK unless in a firefight or in enemy territory. There is only APTK in a firefight if there are more than two people involved (it does not matter how many on each side, there could be two on one side and one on the other and it still counts), both parties have fired at each other MORE THAN ONCE EACH, and it has lasted for more than 30 seconds. Do not be edgy and say "shoots in head" or "dodges," because that could result in a kick. There is also APTK if a psycho character attacks someone with a weapon AND that person fires at them.
7. Private RPs ARE allowed, but it is preferred that you do not be too harsh on other players that want to join, even if they are new. As long as they look like they're actually trying and follow the rules and fit with your RP, let them in. If you are caught being too harsh to other players, it will result in a warning from an admin and, if it continues, a kick or ban.
8. You are not allowed to use any big explosives such as grenades or rocket launches except on special occasions, e.g. destroying an enemy outpost or vehicle. Nukes, however, are strictly banned. The world has had quite enough of those. |
