Baseball, a game where you can eat and play, is a faster paced game than soccer, where the average player runs 7 miles a game, and never stops running.
then he calls people telling him he's wrong "sensitive" Lol.

I wonder what a third baseman does when the ball is hit toward first base.
Stand there. |

Okay okay okay okay okay...
Soccer there is something in motion at all times of the game. So lets think of soccer as running on a treadmill for 5 miles per hour, with those said "spurts" at 12 mph.
Baseball is stop and go. In terms of pace I don't believe 20 seconds of waiting for the pitcher to throw the ball does anything to the game. Baseball would be standing on a treadmill then running full speed for a few seconds on and on and on. |

3rd base usually goes to the 2nd base line to back up if there is a miss throw if the ball goes past the 1st/2nd baseman. And if it's hit on the corner (extra bags) he will cover his base to prevent a triple. |

No matter where the ball is hit every fielder should be moving. I don't agree with it but why the hell do you care lmao

couple thimgs wrong
1. the shortstop would be backing up at second 2. 3rd baseman would be covering third. 3. overthrow would be am eror, so it wouldnt be a triple

| I agree that soccer probably has more running, but like these guys said, every fielder is basically moving at all times in baseball. Outfielders are your last resort protection if it's way overthrown. Your short/2nd baseman cuts when the outfielders have to go deep into the outfield. The pitcher is always moving to first in case first base is pulled off his bag for a ground ball. Short comes behind third to back-up a throw most of the time. I say this from experience at playing short - sometimes you just get ran the hell out lmao. Especially in pickles where you have to chase them. |

Okay what's your point? Every player in soccer is moving all the time too. Players have to make runs off the ball when they don't have it, they have to position and get in defensive/attacking shape, they have to cut off running lanes, etc. Even the goalkeeper has to move all game to position himself based on where the other team has the ball. |

| My point is that baseball gets such a bad rep that it's "not a sport" because people always point out that they only run once every minute or so, and that's only if the ball is hit to them. Baseball is as much of a mental sport as it is a physical sport. You need to know where to go before you even get the ball, and then when you get it, you have to execute. As I said before, soccer has more running than baseball does. But in my years playing baseball, quite a few, thinking of where you need to be and where you need to go is the first thing on your mind in the field at all times - and it's different in all situations (outs, runners, game situation). So while this reporter was probably wrong, I don't think your statement of baseball being an "eat and play" sport was true either. |
