especially drummers
anyone who looks at sheet music for drumming is clearly doing it wrong unless they're in some lame school band |

before completely ditching music because it's stupid

sheet music is simply for your generic middle school band class otherwise it's completely stupid and restricts you in every way possible from being creative. it's like comparing the instructions in a lego set to building creative things without any instructions. it's more fun and sincere that way. |

How do you know you're playing it right if you can't read it?
...just like that old gypsy woman said. |

"Unless you're playing some weak repetitive rhythm you don't need it."
"People like that don't live long for a reason."
"Watch him quit in a few years."
Other people don't care.

Not if you play with delay.
But at that point you should memorize your piece anyways.

learned drums by listening to timing in various songs, mostly influenced by drummers like neil peart, dave grohl, chad channing, mitch mitchell, etc.
taught myself guitar by listening to music, experimenting, using tabs
and bass has always been natural to me because it is a lot more like drums in the sense that it doesn't use a bunch of special chords and relies a lot more on holding the timing together so yeah
all without learning a single thing about sheet music or notes or really anything that involves reading music |

"Not if you play with delay." why would there be a delay to your instrument making sound other than playing it through a bunch of real-time effects |

"but not everyone is a clone of you" everyone is capable of doing something, but they're only restricted by their priorities and feelings. |

It's easier for us, not necessarily you. We don't need to be told how we learn, we find our preferred way.

and i wasn't bragging that is just a reason as to why i think reading music is dumb, because stating an opinion without your reasoning is pretty dumb in most cases, as the reader is likely going to wonder why that's your opinion |
