At a college prep school and took hits to my GPA the last 4 years... While one of my friends did nothing, never had any homework and had like 3 classes yet she got auto accepted into University of Texas because of the 10% rule

| The kids who have no business getting into those schools normally fail out during the first or second semester though, so it kind of balances out |

Good afternoon kids. We now have a new reason to make "Texas Education" jokes. |

| No you don't lol. A variation of the same rule happens in like 25 other states. The percentages are just different. |

At UNC Chapel Hill, arguably one of the best schools in the state and the most applied too, they take a certain amount from kids from each county.
That means in the MASSIVE district of Charlotte-Mecklenberg, which provides schools to all of Charlotte and its surrounding town, they take the same amount of kids as a small district in the mountains with a highschool with 600 kids.

| Let's be honest.. If you can't get into LSU or UL you probably shouldn't be in college |

"would it be 10% of graduating class or does it also include the dropouts into the variable?"
no lol, you have to have a high school diploma and meet the minimum criteria of credits required by the state to enroll in a college or university |

4.44 average high school GPA for freshmen who were accepted
that is actually one of the highest i've seen, probably the highest among a public institution other than michigan and penn
how do they afford this with the 10% rule? |

"how do they afford this with the 10% rule?"
because they fill the rest of the student population with people outside of the top 10 that got screwed because of the rule
my friend is in the NHS, got a 2140 SAT, takes all advanced classes (reminder: college prep school) makes straight A's and got waitlisted
if you don't have straight A's in difficult classes it's pretty much impossible to get into UT
(unless you're in the top 10% of your school) |
