The giant mushrooms and the fact there many trees with thick branch is good
I just do not like the texture of the planks the dark oak offers is all
I prefer oak, birch and jungle

Mesas, mostly. Birch Forests are also great. Birch is my second-favorite kind of wood, second to Acacia, but Savannas don't look that great to me. They probably would look better with appropriate animals, though.

Stained clay looks awesome, gives more color variety to supplement wool, and is as tough as stone to boot. Mesas also contain red sand, which is very rare indeed. Red sandstone looks pretty.

It should be noted that stained clay will absorb explosion blasts, protecting anything under it or behind it |

Anything with blast resistance 30 does so, but stained clay does it while being colorful.
