tl;dr: Add support for different languages
What ever happened to de.roblox.com? Why can't characters like "ñ","я","個" be typed in the game chat? These are all questions that shouldn't be asked in the first place. If ROBLOX wishes to grow as a company, there should be compatibility for users that do not speak english their primary language (such as myself), more-so, those who did not have the opportunity to learn English as I did. Of course, with all seriousness, this forum will most likely be ignored, as this issue has been for nearly a decade now. It just seems like ROBLOX doesn't care anymore. This is making me really distraught; I am not trying to bash on ROBLOX, but really, there is NO REASON why it isn't here in the first place. It isn't that hard to do!
Is this "worldwide-platform" byword that ROBLOX is throwing around just some lie?
I mean, I doubt this thread is going to replied to anyways. Hence: "If I speak English, not my problem, right!?"
Wrong. Imagine what kind of things could be brought by those who have not joined ROBLOX yet because of the incompatibility!
Yet, it's the community that makes all the decisions for ROBLOX anyways. :/ |

Right now, the character sets in ROBLOX support all basic ASCII characters, 1 through 128. Those can all be represented using one byte of memory (00000000-11111111). More characters means more storage in memory and also adding those glyphs to the font sheets. Adding new characters means adding more room each character has to take up in memory, which can be a bad thing but I'm not really sure if it is.
Here's some basic game design for you: these things aren't major issues so they aren't going to be put in. Right now ROBLOX is going through a huge transition - they're redesigning the characters and switching over to a user-generated content model, among many other changes that users have suggested. This is a very minor thing that nobody has really addressed yet and it isn't making a difference. When you have several projects all going on behind the scenes you can't spare a worker. |

Not enough to hire moderators of every language in the world; language qualifications/degrees are not easy to find.
Besides translator programs were good enough for that time before I went into the broken-but-pretty-understandable English territory (and such software has advanced, right?). |

I think you're way overestimating how much memory it actually takes to store a short chat message. |

@Secretiveness - Though it may be correct that it is hard to find global translators, it isn't hard to make a Roblox wide translation - thing. Kinda like what Steam has - they have an ongoing project where YOU - the people of the Unite - oops I mean the people of Steam can help translate their website. Millions of people play Roblox, a lot of people would be bi/multi/whateverlingual. |

Bump Hm. These are really good points, but I'm just going to make an assumption that characters don't take up that much memory; considering the amount of things in a ROBLOX game. |

You said with a keyboard, not American keyboard.
You can add keyboards in other languages through control panel > Change Keyboards on Windows. |

| You can actually get banned for speaking other languages, believe it or not. |

Then how come there used to be a forum category called "Language Center"?
If you report something and say it is a bad word in the different language, then they might remove it not knowing what it is. But speaking a different language alone won't get you banned.
That is beside the point anyway- they aren't going to have to hire more moderators just because they add characters to in-game chat. |

| No support. There are SOOO many languages out there, ROBLOX will have to censor every single bad word in each of these languages. It is still a problem as people have insulted me in Latin and Spanish, and have gotten away with it. Also, trolls will abuse this. |

this suggestion is useless
roblox is an all-american company and they shouldn't have to hire more moderators to moderate different languages for the minority that actually does speak another language and play roblox
this is a complete waste of roblox's income since supporting this feature would require more money to be put into it than it would produce as non-american speaking players make up a very small minority on roblox
