chapter 1: Ezio's heels clicked on the hard ground. The crisp air and chatter of the crowds delighted him, and Janissaries roamed the streets, chasing down vendors. This reminded him of Venice, when a man had his shop destroyed and he had gotten arrested just for selling in front of a canal. The man spit on him, and he was arrested with no trials. Thought after another, Ezio had gotten the image of his family's execution. He shook his head and waited for his package. A blacksmith called out to the crowd, promising them with what every tradesmen promises. Hearing the same lines about how low their prices are and how great their products are makes one wonder if anyone has ever been convinced by them. The blacksmith was speaking to dead air, not that he is to blame. Ezio walked up to him, pushing a woman aside. His eyes were locked on the man's sign. He asked about his Sepahi Riding Armor, and the man had given Ezio a high price. He had a look of disappointment written on his face, and he walked away. He had a surprise for Sofia, feathers! His armor weighed down on him, and he had a weak body. He felt like a wounded bird, slowing from their flock. He walked front and back of a merchant's shop, where he was to get his order. A man with a mask arrived, holding nothing but a wooden crate. "I suppose you must be Ezio Auditore," the man had a muffled voice, "here is your package, shipped all the way from your Villa!" Ezio smiled.
"Grazie."
"O size efendim hizmet etmek bir onurdu." The man turned around and returned to some business. Crate in hand, Ezio wondered if the man was a Templar, and that if there was actually some sort of weapon inside the crate, used to kill him! Ezio opened the crate and set it on the ground, only to find a few rocks. He wondered why it was so heavy, for he was told they were feathers! "Ah, I will tell Sofia about the 'misunderstanding'." Ezio thought as he walked the streets, empty-handed. Normally, he would give citizens free money, but he had spent most of his money on that package. He scaled a wall, since there was a zipline. "Eh, what's to lose?" Ezio threw a few coins on the ground below him. The citizens all gathered around it, like chimpanzees fighting over food. Ezio sprinted towards a zipline, latching on at the last second. A guard on the rooftops threatened him then shot an arrow. He dodged it, and our hero jumped on him, releasing his hookblade in the split-second. It got embedded into the guard's throat, and Ezio retracted it when he saw the man was truly passed. Meters away, Ezio saw Sofia's book shop. Though he had no passion for books, he had went there to talk with Sofia. He had jumped down the building, and into a haystack. A little hay got into his mouth, but he spit it out. He shook himself off and knocked on Sofia's door. A man stood by her books, observing them, when he had noticed Ezio knocking on the door. "Er, sir, she is not at her office today. She is attending to the annual festival." Ezio thanked the man, and made his way to the festival grounds. People were scattered all around the building, and Ezio used his eagle sense to find Sofia. When he had found her, he didn't make any noise, for that would attract the attention of any guards. When they found out he killed the soon-to-be Suleiman, they wouldn't want to see him alive. Instead he blended in with the crowds, moving with them. When he got close enough, he approached Sofia, who was looking at a fountain. "Wonderful isn't it?" Sofia looked up at Ezio, waiting for an answer.
"Bellissimo, just like you." Sofia smiled.
"So, what brings you here? Did you find another library to seek out?"
"I actually wanted to, I - I, wanted to give you a gift. For your troubles."
"What is it?" Sofia looked at him with beady eyes. She rarely got gifts, since she was confined to her shop. Ezio held out an empty hand.
"There's supposed to be a crate with my brother's feathers. He collected them before, he was, executed." Ezio gulped.
"Ah, I see. Where is it?"
"I'm not sure, the package I was delivered had just rocks in it, and no feathers."
"Now, Templars are fooling with our things, keeping them 'just in case'. Come, we should talk in quiet." They both walked into a room, shutting the door behind them. Sofia continued, "The Templars have a secret meeting tomorrow, and if you could eavesdrop on where they've taken my parsel..."
"Consider it done." Ezio said his farewell to Sofia, and made his way through the city. The moving crowds gave him the best cover. He had gotten to a ship, where there was a package. "This is the same as a few years ago. I had to retrieve a package for Sofia before. Luckily, I have experience." Ezio walked up to a guard, and he pushed him back. Suddenly, the guard had realized that it was Ezio Auditore! He told the other guards to attack, and they all unsheathed their weapons. Ezio looked at the guards. An ill-equipped guard was to the left of him, so he made an easy target. Ezio took out his French sword and swung it at the guard. The skinny guard dodged the attack, and Ezio got closer. This time he got a hit, and the skinny man's dagger fell the the ground. Within a second, Ezio shoved his sword into the man's abdomen. He pulled it out, blood on it. He took his distance and pulled back his arms. The sword gleamed under the sun. Ezio thrust his arms forward and let go of the sword. A Janissary dodged it, and the sword was stuck in the wall of a building. A woman came out of her window, cursing. Ezio took out his crossbow and aimed at a guard. He shot the arrow into the man's heart, causing him to fall with the clank of his armor and weapons. Ezio saw that the only guard left had taken his pistol out. He shot it, Ezio barely missing. He sprinted towards his sword, and threw it at the guard. There was a loud clank, but the man was still standing. Ezio pulled out his Arabian Dagger, and kept hitting the man with it. The man always dodged, but Ezio was determined. He punched the man in the stomach, then proceeded to trip him. He took out his hidden blade and kicked the man in his groin. He groaned and Ezio stabbed him in the neck.
chapter 2: Ezio saw that the man was truly dead, and he ran to the ship. He slowed down as he got closer and closer to the waters. No other guards were left. Ezio saw a box, and a crate. He picked up the crate and put the box on top of it.
Ezio arrived at the festival, and he didn't see Sofia anywhere. "Must be at her shop." Ezio walked to her shop, and when he arrived, he put the box and crate on her desk. "Sofia, I have your parsel!" His voice echoed in the emptiness. "Sofia?" Ezio pushed a curtain around, and saw the people of Constantinople. He looked around in panic. "SOFIA?" Ezio saw he was yelling so loud his fragile throat hurt. He saw Altair's shadow. Ezio followed it, and it leaded him straight to Sofia's bedroom. "Oh Altair, you ragazzo sporco." Ezio chuckled. But now was not the time of laughter. Ezio saw a note, it said, 'Gone to buy some books. I'll be back around noon.'. It was reaching dusk outside when he had read the note. Yet Sofia was nowhere to be seen. Ezio ran to the front door. He shoved it open, careful not to break anything. All attention was drawn to him. A Jannisary turned around from guarding a chest, like a lion protecting its pride. He had given no care for Ezio, and returned to his position. Ezio scaled a building, then realized that the finest books were in what remains of Cappadocia. Sofia must've been there, and could have gotten stuck in the rubble. An arrogant guard didn't hear Ezio creeping up behind him, and Ezio stuck. He shoved his hidden blade inside the man's chest, ending him quickly. He set the body on the scales of a roof, and left him. He sprinted towards the docks, and told the ferry guide to get to Cappadocia as fast as possible. They set off and in a few hours, Ezio arrived in Cappadocia. The man demanded a fee, and Ezio gave him 12 akçe. The man made a grunting noise, as if annoyed. Ezio entered through the great arch, with slivers of earth cut through the carved stone. Ezio ran past people escaping some of the harshest areas, and they warned him not to go in. He pushed them aside, since he knew Sofia needed his help. It was nearing night, and Ezio could barely see.
