We shall have a contest!
Contest TYPE: This is predominantly a WRITING contest, but drawings, photography, and whatever else you make yourself that can be considered art ... these are all things that will [probably be accepted as long as you made it and you put effort into it.]
PURPOSE: This is to help people "get their creative juices flowing," as people just love to say so much. It's also to share what we make with the community. It is not about winning (though winning is a nice bonus, yes.)
BASIC MECHANICS: This game has multiple rounds, with one person eliminated each round. The elimination will depend on who has the least amount of points in their Grading Sheet. There will be as many rounds as it takes until there are only three people left. They will partake in the final round, and shall be ranked 1st through 3rd place. Each round will last roughly three days. The time may be adjusted if need be.
MULTIPLE MEDIUMS: If you choose more than one medium (for example, if you wanted to do a short story based off of a photo) then you would be graded separately for each one. Those grades would be averaged out to a normal score, and then be added one bonus point for each extra medium.
BONUS POINTS: There are various ways to attain bonus points. The main way to get bonus points is to give feedback on other people's works. I suggest either copying the official grade sheet or making one of your own. You may get one half point per review you write for someone else. (and only if it's not bs'd)
PARTICIPANTS: Only those who joined in the first round and haven't been eliminated can OFFICIALLY PARTICIPATE. However. Anyone can join and be graded, at any time. Only OFFICIAL PARTICIPANTS may WIN and be officially included in the round, but anyone can make an entry and be graded.
GRADING: Anyone can grade anyone. Only my word is the official word. Nonetheless, I encourage you all to give feedback to one another. *cough cough* i will bribe you with free points if all else fails *cough*
GRADING SHEETS: These are the grading sheets that will be used each round.
WRITING GS: Intrigue/Creativity- /20 Grammar- /5 Relevance- /5 Comments: Total: /30
ARTWORK GS: Intrigue/Creativity- /15 Eye Appeal- /10 Relevance- /5 Comments: Total: /30
PHOTOGRAPHY GS: Intrigue/Creativity: /15 Eye Appeal- /10 Relevance- /5 Comments: Total: /30
If there's something else that needs its own GS, that can be added later.
FINAL PRIZES: 1st place: whatever they damn well please, as long as it's nothing unreasonable 2nd place: a drawing of their character, probably shaded 3rd place: a few extra comments/feedback you may trade prizes if you want to in the end, but idk why #1 would give up their prize but like hey that's not my choice to make so do whatever i guess
TOPICS: There will be two topics each round. You may choose one or both.
TIPS: I suggest being detailed (in artwork) or descriptive (in writing.) Not overly descriptive, duh, but it adds a nice touch?
TL;DR no. don't join if you're not going to read all of this stuff. fu i worked hard on this
ROUND ONE: TOPICS/STUFF THAT IS MAYBE SUPPOSED TO INSPIRE YOU OR SOMETHING -Kiss the sky -Run for your life
At the end of each round there will be a tally of who's still (officially) in. Those who do not submit entries by the deadline will be disqualified from the official tournament, but can still participate unofficially.
Please say which topic you're doing when you submit something.
You can ask questions if you want/need to.
By the way, the first person each round to guess what song(s) the topics are based off of will get 1 point per song guessed correctly. Because bonus points are fun. But if an unofficial participant guesses it right first, no one gets the bonus point. :P
I think that should be everything. Ask questions and/or get to work!
Round one ends January 13. If the thread goes inactive before then, though, I'll end it sooner. After a few bumps, y'know? So yeah. Do stuff now! |

| Could you use a photograph for reference, state it and it not be yours, but provide a story based on it? |

| Or maybe a song? But this would only be to set a specific mood. |

| Or will that be graded along with? In association with relevance or relativeness? |

You can do that, but yeah, it should be at least a little relevant.
It can't be graded unless you made it, though, and its relevance would probably just be included in the overall relevance score. |

This is honestly the only occasion in which I've seen anyone request a writing contest of any kind, and unfortunately the two phrases that you used were too vague for me to think of anything. However, if this proves to be popular and if after a few rounds there are people who want to participate but who can't because they've been disqualified or didn't see this soon enough, I may do a writing contest of my own.
De jongen drinkt de melk. All you need to know is that "Jongen" means "Boy" and you've learned yourself some Dutch. |

There's already a way for the unofficial people to participate, but okay.
Also, people were requesting that I make this on Dwagon's abandoned drawing contest thread. |

I'll actually try and write something up, but I don't know how long I'll be able to keep my interest vested in this

| Oh, a question. There's a section for grammar on the writing grading sheet. How is grammar going to be graded if we choose to write a poem? |

I guess that would just depend on the instances.
Correct spelling of words (unless you need to do something like what a lot of hymns do, using "heav'n" instead of "heaven" to try and squeeze it into the lyrics, or in this case, the meter) could be one
Can't always do correct sentence structure
Correct usage of words (your versus you're, etc.) would probably be the main focus. |

| Excuse me if this is already mentioned, but does a writing piece have to be a poem or can it be a story? |

It can be a story.
That's really more of what I was originally anticipating. |
