I'm trying to replace a character's neck joint with a weld temporarily. It works, but when I try to insert a copy of the original neck joint into the character, they die. How do I work around this?

Why are you even trying to modify the neck

Because I need to modify it with a script, and I don't want animations to affect it.

So you are trying to modify the neck because the animations are affecting it?

Yes, and I was successful, but the problem is that reinserting the neck joint kills the player.

Why does nobody want to help me with this? I literally just want to know why the player dies when I insert a neck joint into their character.

The head needs to stay welded to the torso using that specific weld. Just create a 2nd head, and make the default one invisible.

Are you sure there's no alternative? Removing the neck joint isn't lethal, just reinserting it is.

Try inserting the new one before you remove the default one. Or try simply changing it's C0 and C1 without removing it.

This is what I'm doing: Insert fake neck (fNeck) -> clone and then destroy real neck (rNeck) -> do stuff with fNeck -> reinsert rNeck (this is the part where the player dies) -> destroy fNeck |

Try resetting it's Part0 and Part1 after readding it.

Doesn't work. I guess I'll go with a fake head like you suggested. Thanks.
