It's not like you need to love it, I don't really like both that much.
I did like fnf but then the fnf songs came out and people went crazy over them, Over time you realized the fan base from minecraft went over to fnf.Undertale I loved it's storyline but I did not go on changing my steam profile pic to sans, I rather create my own character based on what I like. But I realize the same people from fnf went over to undertale. I have taken up on calling these people "hoppers" , they like whatever everyone else does for attention. I have never been that type of person, I don't like being popular if so I would have already jumped and made way more mods then I normally do.
But don't hate a game purely because it's extremely popular, the people that like the game either are mindless zombies or people that like it. And the developers usually don't intend on it becoming popular, The only ones that do are main stream ones like ea.
I would say both games are mostly popular for the story and less so gameplay, well undertale had good gameplay but only really for retro gamers. |

| the reason I hate them both is because they were originally good ideas, then ruined by a middle school fan base that literally started worshiping the characters in the game as if they were gods, they never shut up about it and spend all of their time just milking the crap out of the title |

"because people hate popular games" i honestly doubt a good portion of the people that dislike undertale do it because its popular to dislike the game. there are a lot of other reasons not to like this average rpg |

@RobFawkes. Agree. There's more reasons from others why undertale isn't as eye-candy than you just hate.
Also for my opinion, this game is sacrificing graphic and gameplay into bullet-heaven for better storytelling, but still isn't deep enough. |

Well It reminded me of something you would find in rpg maker.
The only difference is gameplay, but for it actually having a non world ending storyline 10/10
What I mean by world ending a lot of rpgs always use the theme of "Oh it's the end of the world your the only one that can save us" and it's purely because of legend of zelda mojaras mask. |

A lot of people like it because it's based on Earthbound.
A lot of people hate it because of the fan base and the fact it's an over glorified game.

I do see why it's over glorified.
But it does deserve respect for at least being somewhat different compared to what we see now a days. |

@logan
The fact it gets 10/10's from user reviews, and that critics just seem to love it too much.
In reality it should get an 8/10 or so, that's why people are so pissed off with it.

| The only issue with undertale I had with it was graphics, I don't really care about graphics all that much they usually kill gameplay. When I mean kill it, you spend more time working on your build then playing the game. |

fnf was ok when it was just one game that people liked, then it developed a really bad fandom and they made too many sequels. the first 4 games were pretty much the same but in different places, and then fnf world was even worse (i didnt even think that was possible)
undertale was a pretty good game, but the fandom ruined it and it got a 10 on ign. it was a good game, but i dont think it deserved a 10, maybe an 8.5 or 9 at the most. however, people judged the game based on its fandom and graphics. |

@jimmy
honestly people really like to judge IGN's scores a bit too often than needed
if undertale got a 9 ign would probably get many complaints about "why isn't it 10/10 omg you can't spell ign without ignorant XDDDDDDD"

I often never listen to users judgement.
They almost always fight over alpha games saying it's an excuse for bugs and glitches. But in reality someday dayz is no longer gonna be an alpha game. |

| Eh, usually it's not so much the game as it is the fanbase. And both games have very vocal fanbases. |

Both games are average, not 'pure perfection' or anything related to the greatest game ever. What ruins it for most people is the fanbase and the hoards of people treating these games as if they are video legend, while in reality they aren't amazing.

As this thread goes, lets all agree that this game isn't men't to be very great overall. Nice innovative idea, but whoever give it a 10/10 from the critics was probably already being 'roflstomped' by the fans.
Can't critics was supposed to criticize and finding its flaws, but not to over-glorified it? |

"Can't critics was supposed to criticize and finding its flaws, but not to over-glorified it?"
This honestly draws a bigger point in video gaming. Why are critics, people meant to give an honest opinion based on facts and reality, so biased and gives an average game (say Undertale) an amazing score it doesn't deserve? |

| I play fivenaf back in the day, I left sort of a mean review on it. The reason for that was I was angry that such a terribly made game gained so much popularity in such a short time. (remember the first one? you couldn't even move, and you open and close 2 doors. great gameplay...) |
