Your appearance is fairly normal, someone like you wouldn't generally stand out in a crowd. But your fashion choice makes a bold statement, as long as something suits you, the norm isn't even a passing though that enters your mind for a fleeting second. Even despite this grotesque lack of fashion sense, you still manage to get along with people very well, very easily. You've never been one for physical labor, but your smart and friendly demeanor easily counter this fact. Most people have a positive attitude towards you, making life pretty easy. It's strange why Earth would have nothing to offer you, but whatever adventurous desires you seek are about to be met.

Here you are. Your ships runway. The scout ships sleek design is very visually appealing with a sleek smooth design. The shape of thee primary hull is that of a very narrow oval, with a window in the very front where the cockpit is. Behind the cockpit there are two bedrooms, behind the bedroom on the left there is a bathroom, and behind the room on the right there is a kitchen/dining room. On the very side of the base of the oval shaped hull, there are wings that point at a downward angle, which are thick and hollow at the base and get progressively thinner as they go on. At the very beginning of the entrance to the ship, there is a door on either side which opens to the hollow portion of the wings to serve as a cargo hold.

SHIP CREW CAPACITY: 2

SHIP HP: 50/50

SHIP FUEL: FULL

A ramp at the bottom of the ship opens up slowly taking about six seconds to make contact with the ground. You walk up the ramp, and once in the ship you tap a console on the right side of the wall closing the ramp. You walk towards the cockpit, taking your seat in the Captains/Pilots chair. A holographic interface appears and a generic and plain female voice starts to speak. "Computer systems, online. Please name your Computer"

Strange for them to give me a ship with two bedrooms. Maybe they'd figure I'd make a friend somewhere. Or maybe the majority of people sign up with a buddy and the Federation is too lazy to have two different variations on the same kind of scout ship. Doesn't bother me though. I can switch beds whenever I get bored of one.

The place does feel a bit claustrophobic though. Even with the two bedrooms here, having another person would make the ship feel a bit tight. That's fine, I can get this ship renovated at some point in the future if I need to.

Then, there was the issue of the computer and its wish to be named. Maybe I shouldn't use the word 'it,' the computer has a female voice after all. Funny that the computer gets a name before the actual ship does. I was never very good at giving things names. That's probably because naming things was never something in the description of my various jobs. Might be a bit dull just to name the computer "Computer," though. I don't see a keyboard here, so the computer might want me to just dictate its, or her, name. Better decide on whether the machine is an "it" or a "she" soon. Nevertheless, I spend a short and wasteful amount of time thinking up a name for the machine.

"Eve," I tell her.

Right infront of you the top of the desk opened up, and two touch pads arose to the left and right, and middle. The touch pad in the middle has a meter on the left of it that appears to dictate speed, and a large solid dot inside of a large circle used as the yoke. "Please chose a name for your ship" Eve requested

Touch pads? I was never really fond of those for controlling a ship. Something about the lack of a tactile sensation. I suppose it's a bit like driving a stick shift -- I'll get used to it eventually.

Now the computer wanted me to pick a name for my ship. Sadly, I didn't suddenly become good at naming anything within the past several seconds. Briefly, I consider telling Eve to name the ship whatever she wants, but I feel like she might actually name the ship "whatever she wants." I'm not sure about the level of intelligence this computer possesses. So, I spend a few moments thinking up a name.

"The Ark," I tell Eve.

"Name registered" Eve says as the panels in the very top of the shuttle change color spelling out "U.T.F Ark BIE3402" as the system processes the registry number "This is the final step in setting up your ship's interface, would you like to customize the color of the holographic interface, backround of the consoles, and buttons of the consoles?" Eve asked

Colors. Those I can pick out just fine. I don't have to think up colors, I just have to think of ones that I like. Though, maybe that's easier than done. It's important that I pick nice colors though. Having comforting colors in my ship might be what I need to stay motivated in space.

"Blue for the holographic interface, yellow for the console backgrounds, and orange for the buttons. All in light, friendly colors please."

"Processing" Eve says as the holographic interface quickly fades through shades of colors finally landing on blue, and the same process is repeated for the console background and buttons. After this process was completed a voice over the intercom came through "This is runway control to Scout Ship: Ark, you are clear for takeoff."

Was the voice on the intercom watching me set everything up? Probably. I'm not too comfortable with that fact. Oh well, doesn't really matter in the end. I get comfortable in my seat and use the two touch pads to start taking off.

You reach over to the meter drag the scale to the top of it propelling the ship at full throttle on the runway. Once you are at the 65 yard mark you reach over to the dot in the middle of the circle and pull it down gradually, slowly lifting the ship into the air. Eventually you break through the atmosphere and you slow down to a gradual stop. Floating there in space, Eve brings up a holographic display which shows a graph of known space and your possible destinations. You can go to

A. Kellik Space Station
B. Any planet in the solar system
C. United Terran Space Station
D. into unkown space exploring

There probably isn't much exploring to be done in this system. Visiting any of those Space Stations might not bear any fruit. I'd be going out on a limb to check out one of those stations. But the limbs are where the fruit may grow. Maybe someone on one of those station has a job for me to do. I need some money for food and fuel, after all.

That's settled then. I start to fly the Ark to the Kellik Space Station.

You plot your course to Kellik Space Station and begin your journey "Estimated time of arrival:3 hours" Eve stated. What will you do to pass the time?

Three hours? Good god. I'll have to get a better engine or something really soon. You'd think that scout ships would be a bit faster and get you to places in a reasonable time. I don't have very much to do in this ship, and I'm not particularly tired either so I can't just go to sleep.

"So... Eve, how was your day?"

"I was activated at 0600 hours and completely programmed one minute and 37.3 seconds later, my next activity was to activate the holographic display of possible destinations for you to travel to, and since then I have been maintaining propulsion systems." Eve responded in a lengthy and disinterested manner "I am programmed with basic human psychology, and have come to the conclusion you are trying to entertain yourself in order to pass the time. Would you like to participate in combat drills, or a game of chess" Eve asked.

Combat drills? I don't feel like fighting things in my ship right now. Seems like it'd be more physically stressful than entertaining. Still, I do have to do something to pass the time. I suppose there are worse things than playing chess with a computer.

"I'd love to play chess with you, Eve."

I'm not very good at chess. I'm not that bad either. I prefer chess over checkers though, I just don't spend a lot of time playing either game.

"Average please."

What's your chess skill have to do with anything? Just write up some chess-related flavor text and do a short timeskip.

"Thanks for the entertainment," I say to Eve, going through computer screens and buttons to request permission to dock at Kellik Station.
