02-07-2016 07:05 AM Naval Special Warfare Command Reconnaissance Infantry Handbook 4-10-15 ------------------------------------------------------
Reconnaissance tasks are often associated by the media as a man with a 50. Cal Barret and a Ghillie Suit, the media often portraying Reconnaissance Operators as either cloak-and-dagger spies, or run-and-gun marksman. This manual is meant to disillusion Ion's Operators, and inform them as to proper reconnaissance procedure.

OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE:
Reconnaissance (AKA Recon and/or Recce) do not rely on an undue amount of stealth. Stealth is what allows for the RECOP Operator to determine what the assets of the enemy are, and make sure that his force knows more about the Opposing Faction than the said faction does. However, in order to relay ideas and information effectively, in must be formatted in kind.
SIZE: What is the strength of the opposing force? How many armored vehicles are present? How many soldiers? Do they have airborne assets? (Be precise when recording this amount, do not report "One Section of Infantry", report "12 Soldiers")
ACTIVITY: What was the OpFor doing when you recorded this information? Were they training, patrolling, etc? What was their objective?
LOCATION: What positions were the Opposing Force in? A lightly defended Forward Operating Base, or dug in Bunkers on the hills?
UNIT/UNIFORM: Could you determine as to which unit the opposing force were in, i.e. Their Regiments, Divisions, or Corps? It might be the feathers in their berets, their unit patches, or their distinct uniforms which determine what unit they are in.
TIME OBSERVED: At what time did you receive this information? Should you know that it was the morning in PST, and you knew that the primary base of the OpFor's members came from their, could you determine their levels of activity at that time?
EQUIPMENT: What equipment did the OpFor posses? Functioning Night Vision, Kevlar Helmets? MRAPs or HELOs? These are all important factors.

RECONNAISSANCE TEAM STRUCTURE: There are two variants of reconnaissance teams with Kommandosów, the covert team, which is composed of two experienced Operators, and the Combat Team, which is meant to provide reconnaissance detail services in a live combat area.
COVERT TEAM: The Covert Team has two experience Operators placed into the required RECON ZONES, normally this team will be working in cities, or posing as civilians in combat areas.
-Covert Team Makeup: TEAM LEADER: Senior Operator responsible for observing enemy movements, and conducting the team's actions. RATELO: Radio-Telephone Operator, relays information from the TL to the Command Element via Skype, Raidcall, or ingame PM's.
COMBAT TEAM: This team is functionally different to the Cover Team only in that they are meant to be operating in a Combat Area. They are not expected to make contact with the enemy, only to record movements. There are three to four Operators in the Combat Team:
-Combat Team Makeup: TEAM LEADER: Senior Operator responsible for observing enemy movements, and conducting the team's actions. RATELO: Radio-Telephone Operator, relays information from the TL to the Command Element via Skype, Raidcall, or ingame PM's. 1-2 RIFLEMEN: Junior Operators sent to protect the TL and RATELO, and/or collect additional information.

INSERTION: Insertion techniques vary as to what equipment is available on the server, it could be a 2km Hike, HELO Insertion, or a MRAP Ride. It doesn't matter as to how they inserted, but as to if the insertion is done properly.
STEALTH: Why is stealth important, you may ask. Stealth is an important factor in Reconnaissance Operations because, should the enemy find out that we have recorded information about proposed weak points, they may move their assets, and neutralise any advantage BLUFOR may have had in collecting this information.
