Hi guys! Here's my perspective on the current way that ROBLOX deals with events.
ROBLOX, I don't mind sponsored events and developer events, UNLESS they interfere with holiday events. Like many others, holiday events are a HUGE part of why I still play ROBLOX. If you separated holiday events from sponsored and dev-events, I can just ignore the sponsors if I choose to do so and just enjoy playing the events, like I used to. Honestly, a few admins chucking together an OK map and adding eggs is 100% better than a developer event and/or sponsored event egg hunt. I have now played through 3 egg hunts as of 2015, (I missed 2012 for some reason), and even 2014, which had many glitches, was WAY better than what we got last year. I actually liked the 2014 egg hunt when it came out, but some people didn't. Looking back, the 2014 egg hunt was a gem compared to 2015, or ANY dev and/or sponsor event that we will EVER get. As I said earlier, many ROBLOXians mostly play ROBLOX for events. What is happening is we are having around 25-75% of the entire reason we play this site stripped from us. Ever see those people wearing that t-shirt that says "Quit"? I am approaching my 5th full year on ROBLOX, and I will say, I am thinking abut quitting. I have bought Tbc, Bc, robux, and gift cards all funding you. Many people say that ROBLOX needs money to stay up and that's why they do sponsors/developer events, however, they are repelling the people who fund them, the people that bring revenue to their site; people like me. Many ROBLOXians have already lost hope, quitting the site, but I haven't. Why? Because I still know that ROBLOX has the ability to improve, even after events in the past. I still trust that. Some people have argued that recent events have just been catering to the people who have joined recently, the ones who haven't experienced prior events. It just irritates me and many other veterans when we get excited for, say the ROBLOX Holidays event, we join a game, and two minutes later, we find a horrifyingly ugly, fat chipmunk on the ground, and "Yippee!” that's our prize. Really? As I said earlier, at least putting in half-effort for an event is MUCH better than telling a Developer, a day before the event, "Hey, go put this chipmunk somewhere in your game." It just doesn't seem like you're even trying anymore. I remember that feeling of exhilaration when I found a new egg, and that feeling is just lost as of 2015. I am stuck in a confined space, with eggs that aren't even hidden. One of the things that really irked me was the fact that you earned eggs based off things like winning a round. (Some of you may recognize this from Epikrika's Egg Hunt 2015 Rant video. Check it out on YouTube.) Exploring a map and finding eggs really brought me wonder as I played prior hunts. As Epikrika said, this "Egg Hunt" just completely goes against everything that the word "Hunt" stands for. The Merriam-Webster definition of hunt is "to search for something or someone very carefully and thoroughly". Was I really "Searching for something very carefully", ("something" being eggs), when I earned an egg for winning "Murder Madness"? (Why would you put a game about Murder as an Easter event for children, too?) No, I wasn't and it took the hunt aspect of an egg hunt completely away. Some people could say, "But Dreway! What about Ripull's part of the Egg Hunt?" First, I'd like to give props to Ripull for at least trying to make a decent Egg Hunt. However, I will say that Ripull's Minigames did not come close to saving this Egg hunt. I mean, combined with the fact that his map was so massive with no teleports, eggs rarely spawned, and the fact that his map was the same mini-map pasted around with a few landmarks here and there, there were things that definitely could have been improved on. Now, I know he had 5 days to make the map. That is partially ROBLOX's fault and partially Ripull's. Partially ROBLOX's because they gave him the eggs 2 weeks before the event, and partially Ripull's because he waited 'til the last 5 days to make his map. (I did really like how Ripull brought back the 2013 Egg Hunt's audio; it brought back good memories.) As for Super Bomb Survival, the game is still good, but it just didn't seem like the creator put much effort into making the game an Easter game at all. I know that he designed it sort of like an egg drop, how they used to make the Easter event, but there were so many problems with this. Being in a confined box with deadly lightning eggs and one-hit-kill beehive eggs, really poses a problem when you are trying to run away from bombs. It's very hard to juggle all of these things at the same time. Another issue was eggs falling into lava, or characters falling into lava because of the eggs that tripped them, because lava was insta-killing them.
So, if any moderators, or perhaps anyone read this far, please take my perspective into consideration and spread the word. I and many others are getting tired of what we have been receiving lately. Just remember, I still know that ROBLOX is able to improve and some of us still haven’t given up yet. Thank you,Hi guys! Here's my perspective on the current way that ROBLOX deals with events.
