if you don't know what those are then search it up on images or something (preferably god rays since it gives a better example)
Light rays should work like global lighting, it can be switched off in the lighting section in studio. There also could be an intensity property for it too. And maybe you could change the colour of it or maybe depending on the ambient. This would be dynamic from depending where the sun and the moon would be. If you turned off celestial beings shown in the properties of the skybox then it wouldn't occur for the sun and moon. This could also incorporate into point lights and such. I know this can technically be done using particle effects but that doesn't really give the same "feel". Plus, you'd have to script the particle emitter to make it stay in the same position.
Advantages: Make ROBLOX look more gorgeous with that new reflective water and smooth terrain. Can create different emotions for games that it makes the player want to feel. Makes building more intriguing with easy to use and beautiful options.
Disadvantages: Could create more lag if done improperly. May be a bit buggy if you really tried to make the light rays look weird. (eg: making 100 lights in the same place to make it even more intense then it was supposed to be).
[TD;LR]: light rays can make games gorgeous and can be implied into many different ways and it should be a feature. |

You could do that, but light rays shine on things because light rays are rays of light, not rays of brick.
Rays of brick seem very violent. |

Can work with a mixture of GUIs and a plugin "Volumetric Lighting" (I think) by Databrain.
