(IDK this is what happens when im bored :P)
Escape From Innsmouth
"...dark legends have clustered for generations about crumbling, half deserted Innsmouth and its people. There are tales of horrible bargains about the year 1850, and of a strange element 'not quite human' in the ancient familis of the run down fishing port. Tales such as only old-time yankees can devise and repeat with proper awesomeness." - H.P Lovecraft
[/Setting/]
Innsmouth sits in northern coast of Essex County, Massachusetts, and is nearly completely isolated. There are miles between Innsmouth and the nearest town, Ipswich (their main shopping partner); and it's nearly a days drive from Arkham. The town is a twist of dense construction and building, with winding smoke columns blooming from the chimneys.
A journalist described the town as a labyrinth, and is nearly impossible to navigate, as the houses and shops are all the same in structure and design.
The town was noted for it's significant strategic importance in the revolutionary war, and was a minor production centre for the Americans. After the end of the war, Innsmouth slowly faded into the history books, and was almost completely forgotten about by anybody outside northern Massachusetts.
But after the disappearance of a man by the name of Brian Burnham, an investigator was hired to find out what has happened to Burnham. You are that very unlucky investigator.
Will the dark past behind Innsmouth and it's population be found out? Or will it fade to the depths of distant memory? Only time will tell.

| (What? No. This is based in the H.P Lovecraft version of Innsmouth. What do you mean by spawn monsters in? This will probably be the investigator's first time even hearing of CTHULHU.) |

Name: Izumi Ikki
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Asian
Appearance: A Japanese man, standing at 5'6. Neither his height, nor his build are physically intimidating. In fact, when placed in a crowd of people, he's usually seen as the weakest person there. This perception of him usually changes whenever the person looking at him is simultaneously looking down the barrel of his gun.
Izumi's eyes and hair are both dark brown, working along with his skin color in the task of marking his nationality On the topic of his hair, it's cut short and pushed to the side, out of the way of his forehead. Clinging to his face is a 5 o'clock shadow that looks like it's physically incapable of growing into a full beard.
Izumi's face is one that appears to have been the target of several attacks over the years. The eyes of an observer are first drawn to his height, then to the multitude of scars on his face. Many would see these scars as a sign of weakness, a sign of him having been beaten down by taller and stronger men. But, there are a few that see these scars for what they are. A warning. A warning that Izumi has probably seen and survived far worse than any potential attacker could throw at him.
Izumi's choice of clothing almost immediately identifies him and his job. A dirty white dress shirt, a black tie, black gloves, grey trousers, a grey waistcoat, and a grey trench coat. From one look at his attire and his observant eyes, it's clear Izumi is a detective. The lack of any kind of badge, neither visible nor hidden, make it apparent that his work is privatized.
Perhaps most notable about his clothes is their visible corruption. They've been dirtied up and torn in a few places. His coat is typically unbuttoned, and his tie is in a slightly sloppy looking Windsor knot. It's evident that he doesn't look after himself very well, and that he doesn't have anybody to do that job for him. Those with intense deductive skill can tell that Izumi is a fairly lonely man, with nobody to take care of or love him.
The other peculiar part of his attire, the other part that sticks out like a sore thumb, is his shoes. Izumi is wearing black running shoes. They don't seem to go very well with the rest of his clothing, and they're clearly worn for function over form.
The final part of his clothing is one that isn't usually seen by people. Izumi wears a brown leather shoulder holster, carrying his gun on the left side and his ammunition on the right side.
Personality: When staring at dead bodies for a long period of time is part of your job description, it's not surprising that you'll turn into a somewhat grim person. And, so is the case with Izumi.
Although he's a smart and brilliant man, he tends to sees the low side of things, and falls on the more pessimistic scale. He's desensitized to the sight of corpses and the sounds of screams and gunshots that so-often ring out at the same time as each other. Although he's no longer shocked by such things, he still detests the sight of them
Izumi cares about two things in regards to his job. The money he gets from it, and the thrill of following through with an investigation. He doesn't care for gratitude from those who ends up helping, nor does he care about any honor or glory.
He isn't very much of an extrovert. The nature of his job usually forces him into conversations with witnesses and the like. But other than that, Izumi doesn't often go out searching for friends. Maybe he just hasn't found an intriguing-enough person.
Equipment: .45 revolver Pistol ammunition x4 Forceps Medical Valise Flashlight
Biography: Izumi was born to a Japanese family, but not in Japan. His family is one of immigrants, and Izumi popped out of the womb in a New York City hospital. Izumi's mother was a housewife, and his father was a businessman of some description who spent more time at the stock market than at home.
Luckily for Izumi, his father did fairly well in the stock market, in part due to the stock market boom in the 1920s. Thanks to this, Izumi was able to attend elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as getting into college. With a natural talent for academics, Izumi did well in his schooling and was able to get into a fairly nice college.
At some point in high school, Izumi became increasingly interested in detective stories. Whether they be novels, short stories, comics, or films, Izumi was intrigued by them. But, Izumi was never too interested in the police side of things. By his junior year, Izumi was set on becoming a private detective.
Izumi attended New York University, which was offering admissions to almost everyone in the 1920s. He was able to spend the time to obtain a doctorate in Police Science and a master's degree in Criminal Justice. Although Izumi did well in school, he didn't like it very much. But, he knew that spending time in college was necessary for him to get the job he wanted.
When college was out of the way, there remained the question of Izumi's employment. His father was kind enough to loan him a rather nice amount of cash. But, money wasn't enough to become a licensed private investigator. Izumi needed to spend quite a bit of time as a police officer. He wasn't quite too keen on this course of action.
So, he decided on a workaround. He bought himself a small office building, put up a sign outside that read "Izumi's Private Investigation Office," and got to work quickly as an unlicensed private detective. The police were far too busy dealing with more serious crimes to bother with shutting Izumi down. Besides, he helps lower their workload.
One fine morning, someone came into his office and hired Izumi. The pay was too good to deny, and Izumi drove off to Massachusetts to get the job done. He thought it'd be just some murder case he'd solved so many times before. |
