Also we call it Earth because why not Earth was the roman god of Earth. |

It actually has its roots in Germanic mythology. Eorde was the Old English word for soil (similar to terra in Latin and gē in Greek), and Earth was the Germanic goddess of the Earth (similar to Gaia in Greek mythology and Terra in Roman mythology).
