| It sounds like a lot but the ratio isn't bad at all and other countries have passed our debt while western Europe is nearing it. |

I know, just saying it shouldn't have gotten to this point. It's crossed boundaries too many times.

Debt actually isn't always terrible. We previously took as many loans from other countries as we could and upon request, paid those same countries back without delay. It made us look credible before and now it's just a problem for everyone.

Debt ain't bad, only reason politicians talk about it is because it is an easy way to slander each other. That's also why they try to impeach presidents near the end of their terms.

It will be a problem if it's not paid off. Under Obama's administration, $9 trillion has been added to the national debt.

it's not like anyone's going to fight us to get it back, lol?
the only real problem would be if China and Russia teamed up to try to 'get money back' don't think we owe Russia anything, they don't like america but they don't 'hate' us.
therefore it'd only be China fighting us, we'd send over another nuke, done...
if they fling one back, next attack is emptying the entire nuclear cellar on them.

Debt will never be a problem. Higher our debt the better actually, that means our economy is strong enough to handle huge debts.

@xPrecision, Over 2/3rd of our debt is owed to the people not other countries.

China's entire country would collapse without America as an ally. As would most countries.

china wouldnt try invading us and russia wouldnt get involved if they did just because the rest of the world wouldnt accept an attack the us from them.
nor would anyone if china did so. besides i doubt they'd have the resources and logistic capabilities to do a mainland invasion of the US, and we would never use a nuke. |

China would never try to invade USA. They know they'd lose. They still have very limited military capability.

@Entrant, I'd like to see you prove otherwise. You really think countries can back 20$ trillion dollars with gold or some other valuable substance? No... it's all just a bunch if "I owe you" certificates that are printed in mass by a private corporation.
