| It's so annoying and so disrespectful. How would you feel if your name was Scott but someone kept calling you Arthur? Pretty bad, and pretty disrespected. If someone tells you they'd rather be referred to as a he/his/him, you refer to them as that. If Beth wants you to call her James, and to use he/him, you respect him and do that. Think about it if it were you, do the right thing. God dammit. |

If I had a dollar for every gender there was, I would have two dollars.
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. |

Misgender: refer to (someone, especially a [T] person) using a word, especially a pronoun or form of address, that does not correctly reflect the gender with which they identify.
Name ≠ Gender.

| I understand and respect when people decide they are a different gender than you were born with but what I don't think is genuine is when people switch back and forth. I know people who change from he to her on a monthly basis |

can i point out that you actually can use names to misgender someone?
for example, my preferred name is eli. someone who was bent on misgendering me kept calling me emily/elizabeth. (one is my birth name) see the person used the wrong name purposefully to invalidate my identity.
op is a little mixed up but i get where shes coming from.

Being mistaken for a guy online a lot (and irl back when I had really short hair) isn't something I found terrible, I get where people who don't know me are coming from, and if anything it was just a minor annoyance. Unless they're knowingly doing this just to spite you (and know that you dislike it), I don't see why people make such a fuss out of it.

it isnt something you found terrible because its different for you as a cis person accidentally calling a cis person a guy because their roblox character looks like a guy is way different than purposely calling a trans person, with gender dysphoria, a guy because... well... think about what calling a trans person the wrong gender is really saying... |
