| The year was 1941. Operation Barbarossa is only 3 days away. You are a fresh recruit, arriving in an airfield, on a truck. You have been assigned to JG20, a multipurpose assault wing. You walked over to one of the new BF109s, "Yellow 4", you are told. It looked factory-made. Inspect it or go to barracks? |

| Inspect it, and may be talk with the engineer(s) about it. Then move to the barracks. |

You took a closer look. The paint finish is new, barely dry. It was rushed here, obviously, to make sure all pilots had their planes in place, ready for takeoff. The propellers are brand new with absolutely no chipping or dirt of any kind on it. The cockpit windows are polished and are reflecting the sun's light into your eyes. And the Balkenkreuz, the Iron Cross insignia you're standing on right about now, was precisely drawn by the manufacturers.
Go inside? |

| No, just take a quick look, and immediately go to the barrack to meet other pilots, the captain. |

You peek into the cockpit. Controls are a bit different from what you saw in the manuals, but it's still familiar in a way. You jumped off, and headed to the barracks.
Since you were late, the barracks were mostly taken. There were 2 beds still available: 1 lower bunk bed near the entrance, and 1 upper bunk bed at the end of the barracks. |

| You walked to the mess hall and stood in the long line waiting for food. You grabbed a tray and got the usual chow. Some icky stuff that resembles soup. Now, you choose where you sit. There are a bunch of rookies at the nearest table, but in the far tables, there are quieter pilots. |

| You brought your tray to the quieter pilots at the back. You sat down, and they didn't react to you. Move closer? |

You moved closer, about 2 seats closer, then finally sat down and ate your meal. Your tray hitting the table registered in one of the pilots, gaining their attention.

| You sparked a conversation with a confident tone. The pilot was finally turning his attention to you. He said that his name was Eric, seeing that you introduced yourself first. What now? |

He started to be more open to you, and you two engaged in a long conversation. Over the course of speaking, you notice his slight Hamburg accent.
But alas, your meal is finished. What now? |

You asked him abrubtly. "Are you from Hamburg?"
"Well, yes. How did you know?"
"Your accent."
"Oh." Eric replied with curiosity in his tone.
You invited him to go with you but he refuses. So you head to the airfield alone. Check the airplane or ask some engineers? |
