I have an ASUS M5A97 motherboard and a FX-6300 CPU sitting in its box next to me.
I cannot find ANYTHING detailing if I need to update my BIOS version to be compatible with the new CPU.
My BIOS version is 0901.
Please help, my GPU is arriving within a few weeks and I want to be able to play games by then. |

| just see what happens, you don't need a graphics card to launch the bios, intel's integrated graphics can do that for you |

Same as PC dude. Except it's easier and possible to switch out parts on computers.
It's like your bragging about having a laptop, which makes no sense |

@BurnOfFlames
Was thinking the same thing for OP's situation, but I am afraid to give out false information so I held back a bit.

You will need a bios update. Now the way to do it is because its an asus mother board is to have another computer as well as a spare USB thumb drive, Head down to asus' website and download the flash update for your bios to the thumbdrive. Load up the bios and plug in the USB drive. Go down to tools in the bios and you will see EZ Flash. Hit enter. you should see an option call "crosshair" hit enter and go through it, blah blah blah, and bam. You should have asus' latest bios version.

| pc part picker always notes that sort of thing, though it's usually not an issue. |
