^ Why does anyone other than a police officer or a soldier need a gun? Seriously
"To protect their families from other people with a gun!"
Do you not see how this is a problem that you are creating, and want to solve by introducing more of the problem?
"Well if you get rid of guns they will just use a knife or something, it won't solve anything" http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/stabbings-reported-pennsylvania-high-school-article-1.1750425 None of these kids died, if the person who had a knife had a gun, who knows how many would have lost their lives.
"MY RIGHTS! 2ND AMENDMENT BRO!" If my education and memory serves me right, the US Constitution is a living document. You can change it. Also, letting people have guns was much different in 1776, when you could only fire one shot every 20 seconds or so.
To cap it off, check out this crazy theory I have.
If no one has a gun.... No one will die from a gun

| Open carry and the presence of assault rifles used by the military to kill people are both stupid but I support concealed handguns and certain guns in the hands of the people because we have the Second Amendment and we shouldn't completely take away freedom granted to defend ourselves |

People who commit homicides with guns already acquire them illegally anyway. Not everyone, but it definitely happens.
With that in mind, gun control is a much more ineffective solution than just spending money on mental health care, which is something that would actually do something reduce the amount of mass shootings.
Unfortunately half of US politicians want to spend the money that could be going to mental health care on soldiers and enforcing biblical law. |

(some) americans think that the government is trying to enslave all of them and having a pistol is the only way to stop their country from becoming a police state.

| I'm fine with concealed guns with all the background tests and stuff only if they lower the mag size to 2-3 bullets. |

Well let's go all the way back to the 18th century and make the Second Amendment not a thing then! /s |

I don't think you understand, as a Canadian, how hard it is to make a new amendment to cancel out a previous existing amendment. |

The founding fathers would NEVER be able to comprehend the firing power people would have today. Some of this innovations we've made on killing each other is other worldly. I feel like if the founding fathers were here today there would be some definite revisions to the second amendment, and they'd think you're all insane for thinking it's a good thing.

| But what were the circumstances of homicide by handgun? Not all that 83% was in mass shootings, y'know. |

| We understand, as Canadians, that we wouldn't need to do such things because we actually spend federal funding on healthcare. |

I understand universal healthcare for every American should be a right, I am supporting Bernie Sanders for a reason |

It's hard, so why bother?
I hope this isn't the mindset of your whole country |

You do realize that 2/3 of the Senate and 2/3 of the House of Representatives must agree on a new amendment? That's going to be hard because they're both controlled by the GOP. Even if that passes, it must go to every state legislature and 3/4 of the states must approve it. This won't pass because Texas and Oklahoma are states. Then, the amendment must go to the Supreme Court to be deemed as constitutional, and ultimately passed onto the president in the Oval Office. |

habs that's essentially the mindset of the entire world. if you have to work for it it's probably not worth doing! that's a reason there are mass shootings amazingly often in the US, and Americans all just shrug their shoulders and say "There isn't anything we can do!?? It's a violation of our rights to fix this problem!"

Total taking away of our rights granted to us by our founding fathers is not the answer to solving the problem
I support combating the problem as much as we can while granting us the ability to defend our liberties |

| I'm aware of what has to be done to change it, I go to school. It seems like that should be relatively easy, especially when the Democrats take over the senate again. Hey, all we need is another class of first graders to be brutally slaughtered inside of the US, and maybe people will start to care again! |

We can agree to disagree on the concealed carry of handguns, that would definitely be an upgrade either way, however I think we can both agree there should be more federal spending on healthcare, mental and physical. Right?
