Are spankings legal where you live? They're legal where I live
Have you ever got a spanking? I got them a lot more at age 6, but I'm older and a lot more mature now. |

Millions of time, mostly because of bad grades.
Back when I was like 7, my dad used to bust the bathroom's door open while I take a shower, and he would spank me with a belt in the bathtub. |

They should be legal everywhere, I think. It's an extremely good way to discipline kids.
Worked really well on me, too. I got dozens. |

Spanking has been shown to be useless in 90% of situations, if you wan't a child to stop doing something physically harming them won't achieve anything, it's been shown over and over that children who are "spanked" are more likely to be violent and uncontrollable.
Although I do approve of it in some rare situations. |

I do think that they will learn something from spanking.
If you disobey, you might pay with violence, so it's better to follow the rules. |

"I do think that they will learn something from spanking.

This is the exact type of thinking you don't want children to have, you wan't them to follow the rules because they have a moral understanding of why they should.
Spank them and they will become more violent, they will react to situation with violence rather then rational and logical thinking.
The goal of a parent shouldn't be to make their child follow the rules, but to teach the child why they should follow the rules. |

Also it's been shown in study after study thatchildren who are spanked may feel depressed and devalued, and their sense of self-worth can suffer. Harsh punishments can wind up backfiring because they can foster lying in children who are desperate to avoid being spanked. Later in life, physical punishment is linked to mental-health problems including depression, anxiety and drug and alcohol use. There’s neuroimaging evidence that physical punishment may alter parts of the brain involved in performance on IQ tests and up the likelihood of substance abuse. And there’s also early data that spanking could affect areas of the brain involved in emotion and stress regulation.
Spanking achieves nothing and teaches your child nothing but violence. |

debate's right - it may have been acceptable back then but law is law and violence is almost always prohibited
if you teach your children to solve problems using violence you'll just be teaching them to have elevated anger and break rules and have higher chances of becoming a killer |

I didn't think they were illegal anywhere. And no, my parents never did that to me, my brother already caused me enough pain.
OP, you're so silly! |

I dunno. I really don't care much either if it's legal or not.
I used to get them a lot when I was a kid. I was a baddie back then. It's actually quite effective in some cases. |

So, here goes my "logical" explanations which i have been doing today.
First, i agree with the person who said spanking almost has no point. And id like that to put that as my key argument. Adults who treat kids with violence and physical harm will cause kids to hate and be frightened. Education with that type of school is COMPLETELY and UTTERLY idiotic in my opinion. You could punch a kid in the face as a adult then tell them to listen to you, and all they will do is fight back, yell, and cry. Your parents could whip you, and people would agree. All that does to you is make you remember a horrible child hood and horrible parents. Parents who wish to go to physical violence when they get bad grades or something, is just meaningless. We are something called HUMANS, we live on the planet earth, and we all make mistakes. Cats make mistakes. Fish make mistakes. All ANIMALS and MAMMALS make mistakes. Yet you resort to physical abuse, itll just turn the kids into the people you want them to be, violent, rude, with a fked up childhood made up by adults.
Second, it is AS horrible to abuse your child(im not a adult, im sorry if im talking like one) than to have a slave. Yes, im sorry, but it is. Abusing children with physical harms for them having bad grades are just the same thing as slaves being punished for doing something wrong. Texas, places like that most likely have spanking/physical abuse because, and i mean NO offense, they have a VERY, VERY long history of abuse there. If im offending anyone, flame or something, what im saying is almost all true with your opinions just flying. And research DOES show that almost ALL kids who were physically, or MENTALLY abused have been criminals be it murder, robbery, or anything else. Other percentage of kids have been shown to hate or be disgusted by other people, seeing as how they were abused by them. We are all humans. If you want to physically harm someone, go do it to yourself. What i would LOVE to say to all your parents that phyically harm you more than 5 times a week, which should be MAX for a kid under 18, or 17, is that too bad you have to harm your own kid, just because they do something wrong. Shows how fked up the world can become in some areas.
Third, "discipline". Doesnt everyone love that word? Used in armies, slaves, oh, and even kids that are in school and being physically abused. "Shows kids discipline." Its more like "Shows kids to be scared when it comes to physical abuse and/or fear people when they hurt you and/OR again, dont do anything bad or we punish you like slaves" Im using the word slaves a lot, because it is really starting to sound like that. Of course there are different references i could use, but it is so similar. Of course you arent slaves, but even in a lot of documents people from the past signed in the United Stats, ( i wont say which, they are hard to name) say that if you physically harm someone for your own benefit, or just because you want them to do something, it is no better than being a animal that is savage and does NO ONE, have the rights, even be it "god", to physically be abused.
I might sound like a adult, im only less than 15. If you want to hate, i dont mind, i just said a lot of facts and if you want to hate me even for that then ok. |
