why "w" needs to be the cosine of theta/2?
why the components of the vector should be multiplied by the sine of theta/2?
why it's divided by two?

That is not correct. You may be getting confused if you read this page (http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Quaternions_for_rotation#Quaternion_from_Axis-Angle) on the Wiki.

It says that is how you would get a quaternion from an axis-angle representation. It demonstrates this because a quaternion is not easily visualized, so they recommend converting to axis-angle instead for visual purposes.
