To be more descriptive, a horror movie about a serial killer/a slasher?

Creative techniques to scare us, other than jumpscares which are over used.

one where: people don't trip every 5 seconds the killer walks, like wth are they friends with the cameraman
We're all entitled to our own opinions, yours just sucks. |

Something not cliche, not that much blood, a cliche or two but only to make characters/the movie a bit better, not boring characters.

I study the gothic subculture for fun and enjoy macabre
try any of these: Texas chainsaw massacre, black Christmas, the burning, Halloween, hatchet, Childs play, maniac, happy birthday to me, madman, or the last house on the left.

Yes, the script for the film that I'm writing for which I would like to make one day for the Cannes or Sundance Film Festival or any other indie film festival is inspired by Halloween. It's suppose to have a retro/80's vibe

| ive noticed that it's one that is disturbing, and I don't mean gore. in the movie The Visit, these 2 young kids were living with strangers who they thought were their grandparents, a situation like this is very plausible today. great movie I suggest you watch it. |

Looks like I'm doing so good on my notes for the script. So far, my plans are to have only one or two jumpscare(s) and to make it violent but not too gory/bloody

Yes, I did watch The Visit in theaters with very low expectations and thought it was going to be stupid but was really surprised by how good it was especially since I hate "found-footage" films but this one is done right

I agree. Blood and Gore don't really make a good horror flick. There is a fine line between being grossed out and literally scared.

No since it's inspired from 80's horror. It will take place in a small town and revolve around a group of teen friends

The Shyamalan twist was that it was good. |

| I'd love to see a movie where someone is a test subject for a group of scientists studying sleep deprivation and weird stuff happens. Obviously they could exaggerate it but that would be an interesting concept to me. |

| I suggest you shouldn't make the teen chiched, as in being so over steriorypical that it's almost cheesy. Make them more then one dimensional characters, perhaps even likable. Then it will feel more tense. |

I love gore films too but I hate Saw (not much with the first one), it's just too sick. But gory films dont get well received now-a-days unless it's some sort of comedy, which I will try some humorous stuff with the teens just acting like normal (not average since this will not have a time set) teens. I really want to write the script right now since I'm 13 and will have many years to edit this, plus since I'm a teen, I have an idea of how normal teens are like since I somewhat despise when they make the teens not act like normal teens.
