if you don't have a working regen script that removes the 800 other boats that are spawned then yes its a bad idea

They're a great idea! As long as you make it so that the rest of the base work well with them.
It's like when building a brick wall, you got to make sure that all bricks are the same size to make it come together nicely. If one brick is too small, the wall will lose it's beauty and it will be imperfect.
In other words, you must find the balance, it can't be too big of a thing or it will stick out too much and it can't be too small or else there will be no reason to have it at all.
The brick needs to be just about the right size. That is my answer.
