| Im going to provide my input ok? this was done on purpose and should be very obvious-it was done for comedic reasons but comes off as a smear campaign. Do you really think they are going to showcase any smart people who do have a basic understanding of the questions asked, or just the dumb people? Ill clue you in its just the dumb people. Id also have to think that the pressure of being interviewed for TV by JAY FREAKING LENO also plays a part with these people's answers. Use your head before you fall for something like that video. |

| And wheres the video of Europeans answering questions about American culture? Id like to see that too. Do you think over in Europe they are so much better than us and they know everything about every other culture that they arent? PROBABLY NOT. |

| Ah yes, so when Europeans try the same thing Las Vegas becomes a STATE! Cool! I also liked "Grace land" and "swamps". So now we know that neither side knows a ton about the other. Dont we have more important issues to tackle in education anyway? Do we really need more geography, is that really going to get you a job? |

It can win you Jeopardy.
Also, not all knowledge needs a job as objective. Knowledge should be seeked for the only reason of being more intelligent. |

| Yes of course but the idea (assuming it was suggested) of having mandatory advanced geography courses is stupid. Im already dissatisfied enough with my learning experience and I think if that point ever came id be seeking alternative education. Its sad enough when your school offers 15+ visual arts courses and only 4 engineering courses-a majority of them dealing with only CAD and CAM. |

| Its good to have basic knowledge of stuff. It's also more extreme to ask Europeans about American States since there are dozens of them. This guy was asking very basic European geography. |

| If we base Europeans on naming states in America, then we should base Americans accuracy on naming provinces in European countries |

now is not the time to defend americans, literally, its sleep time in united states also, geography is REALLY IMPORTANT if you don't want to put Hong Kong in Brasil (It's happened!)
also, many americans don't know much about other countries, and are horrible at foreign languages, literally almost resistant to it at all
one of my friend's american exchange student thought africa is a state |

Wait so we should learn geography just so we can pass geography tests? What? |

| You should learn geography because you shouldn't be a lazy arse and should actively seek to know more. |

| I do "actively seek to know more" on my own time and of my own career interests. I dont need the freaking state to tell me what the hell I'm gonna learn, screw them. |

| As an American, I'm not going to lie. As a whole we are incredibly ignorant about other cultures. However I wouldn't go so far as to say we're all similar to this video. Like said before, this is purely entertainment value stuff, so they're not going to pick people who have an actual clue. Also, I think it's a bit ignorant to act like Europeans are so much more enlightened about this kind of thing than we are. Ask very basic America geography to some Europeans, and you're likely to get some similar responses. |

Considering the continent of North America is composed of 3 countries, I'd be extremely disappointed if they couldn't. How many countries are in Europe? It's the same logic you used with "obviously they can't name the states, theres so many of them!". There's only 50 states. I've met Europeans who literally only know three. They class us into 3 sections. The south is Texas, the West is Cali, and the east is New York. |

While I agree that it is incredibly stupid not to know these countries, I would hardly argue that its as bad. The three countries in NA are gigantic plots of land with clearly drawn borders. They are the only 3 countries in the continent. GB isn't all of Europe. |
