A model has faces. Each face has 3 things: Texture coordinates, surface normals, and vertices.
A vertex is at each corner of the face. The face in this case is a triangle. Texture coordinates are how the texture is mapped onto the triangle. The coordinates of the texture that is, to each vertex. This isn't what you are interested in. I was just building context. Surface normals are at these vertices. They are numbers which point in a specific direction to which you know where to cast a shadow. |
