I'm a very poor (new) developer! =l Probably because I'm NBC. However, I'm reaching out to anyone capable of assisting, and would like to assist. Not a lot of NBC developers(That aren't scripters) exist. So, I'm still standing strong and ranting about how I need scripters willing to help.

I'm not looking for 100% dedicated scripters, willing to work on my project with NO pay.. However, I am looking for scripters who can provide advice, hints, tricks, and other ways to help me understand scripting and what I can do as a birthing developer to work on my project.

If you'd like to help and watch someone fail, crash and burn in their own pitiful filth from being left with their own devices in this cruel world known as Roblox Game Developing. Drop me a message! I'll bump, post and deliver questions on this thread for anyone to tackle if their bored.

PS: Don't be discouraged if you think you don't have the knowledge to answer. Post anyways! Give your opinion, your understanding if you have the same problem. This thread isn't per-say a help thread. But a discussion thread on NBC devs, and how we can help each other. It isn't just a thread just for me either! Share it with other aspiring NBC devs.

Nobody is going to work for you if you can't contribute as much as you expect.

no

Most of successful devs learn on their own.
You don't need BC to be successful although it does really help.

Sometimes devs come here because they wonder something like what function or tools to use or just need a little guidance or review and most people are happy to help.

A lot of ''devs'' also come here asking for answers to basic problems or asking how to do the very basic builds or scripts when they didn't bother searching the wiki, testing out tools in studio or simply expect unreralistically high results from their low experience or of RBX.Lua engine.

To kick off this thread, I'll post my first piece of info!

When I build my models for my project, I use WiltSmith10000's C-Frame Kit.
http://www.roblox.com/Wilts-C-framing-kit-item?id=86498894

I don't fiddle with numerical values and 'precise' placement because I find it tiring. If it looks great, if you can't notice the tiny gap, or unaligned faces; It's fine! No one's gonna look that much at it and scold you for it.

If you're struggling to get your thoughts to a model, take your time!
Build the basic shape of it. Try to find some references online. It's not copying if you look at others' work and try to understand the form, shape, layout and other aspects of that piece and apply it to your own.

I had the same issue when designing a bipedal-mech for my project. So I found some sci-fi mech concept art online, and built it to the shape, the scale and form. Then threw in my own adaptations and twists.

Go check it out! Send me a message if you have some feedback.

Building, Scripting or ANYTHING that you need to learn to create something takes practice. From drawing, animating, and story writing. To programming, designing, and even philosophy takes practice. So practice on, no one's perfect to start out.

Very good point! It is true that most do consult others for immediate help upon their issue. How ever, not many know where to start. Studio is very overwhelming when you first look at it. So this is supposed to be a place to post advice, or ask a question if you're lost in that aspect.

As myself, I'm still very far in the dark on the variety of tools. I'm also reading the wiki, and it's helpful to an extent, but assumes the reader knows the major terms. Of course I'm calling for help in this thread, but help that is also available to others who have the same issue as me. Not just for my project.

Other readers may find this, click a link, and see how an NBC Dev such as myself is trying to reach out to others, and learn from others, while experimenting on my own. Perhaps they can take up the same practice and start somewhere.

Again, good point.

For the moment the only scripting I can do decently is audio, adding it to a place or adding it to a touch brick that activates the sound when it is walked over or touched.

Through a video I found over the internet I was able to do this and more or less become adept with it, building I am adept with as well, I just like building things so I build what pops in my head.

At the very least the most important tool an Dev, new or master has is the tool right between their ears.

Heh well i learned scripting from Roblox Wiki though it was hard i still managed. I've done lots of things my most prized possession should always be my scripts. I struggled with so much problems when i first started out. I kept messing up the scripts and it broke everytime, now i might be the best developer right now; Im just a little skeptical in my future.

Bump! We need more people to be active in providing advice and backstories to their skills! By reaching out to others, either as a Scripter, Builder, or Story Writer. You can learn a lot from reading what other people have to say.
