| I installed it and wrote a simple program. How do I compile it? From my understanding, I thought it had it's own native compiler. |

I already did that dummy. But when I press compile, it outputs this:
"UnstableCF - Debug": The compiler's setup (GNU GCC Compiler) is invalid, so Code::Blocks cannot find/run the compiler. Probably the toolchain path within the compiler options is not setup correctly?! (Do you have a compiler installed?) Goto "Settings->Compiler...->Global compiler settings->GNU GCC Compiler->Toolchain executables" and fix the compiler's setup. Skipping... Nothing to be done (all items are up-to-date). |

Bump. It told me to use GNU GCC but I can't figure out how to install it. |

| I already have an IDE, but I need the link to GNU GCC. I can't find anything but the source code, which is no good to me. |

@Chimmi
I started the install. How exactly does it work? I created a Code::Blocks project and I need to compile it. Does MinGW support C::B? |

| If Code::Blocks wants GNU GCC, MinGW will provide it. Isn't that what you just told us? |

| You'll probably need glibc and gcc, although I'm not sure. Maybe "make" too. |

| Sigh. I don't get it. Is there a tutorial on compiling a Code::Blocks project? I deleted MinGW because it didn't work. |

1. Get MinGW 2. In the installer page, mark everything in the Basic Setup page for installation(Click check box for prompt). 3. Click Installation. 4. Click Apply Changes. 5. Click Apply. 6. Wait for it to install everything. 7. Add PathYouInstalledMinGWIn/bin to your PATH. 8. Code::Blocks should now be able to compile your C or C++ projects.

There are multiple downloads for it.
http://www.codeblocks.org/downloads/26
"The codeblocks-13.12mingw-setup.exe file includes the GCC compiler and GDB debugger from TDM-GCC (version 4.7.1, 32 bit). The codeblocks-13.12mingw-setup-TDM-GCC-481.exe file includes the TDM-GCC compiler, version 4.8.1, 32 bit. While v4.7.1 is rock-solid (we use it to compile C::B), v4.8.1 is provided for convenience, there are some known bugs with this version related to the compilation of Code::Blocks itself."

If you're on windows and you have a lot of HD space, use Visual Studios ffs. Sure it has a lot of crap you won't ever use but they also have so much more crap that is amazing and makes everything easier whereas code::blocks misses a lot of that. Personally, I'd rather do it all via command-line then use code::blocks.
If you're not on windows, life is easier. |

definitely agree with @cntkillme. Visual Studio, like windows in general, works out of the box and gives you most of the features you'd expect. be warned that it's heavyweight, long load times and slow. if your computer is slow use CodeLite with MinGW. if your computer is fairly good you probably won't notice much lag. |
