| My game is going to use some PHP scripts, but free web hosts are proving more and more unreliable for some reason. Is it possible to host live PHP on any cloud drives? Could I host it myself (how powerful of a computer would I need to dedicate)? Thanks for any ideas. |

| x10hosting and OpenShift are both fine for free hosting. They should fit your needs. Besides that, it is possible to host directly from your computer, but it's not recommended considering you'll need a good amount of RAM if you plan to use it personally and as a host. |

Hosting it on my main computer (8gb ram) isn't horrible except for the lack of Ethernet cables. So probably not.
000webhost just shut my site down two weeks after I made it.
Just tried byth something..? (currently afk, don't recall the exact name) It wont let me on my panel at all. Like at all. Even with the creds they emailed me. Though I could get in with a FTP client for a little bit. Now its not working at all. |

what kind of scale are we talking? how many users, how big of files, etc. a quick description of the website's purpose. |

| I dislike 000webhost and don't personally use it. As recommended before, use x10hosting or OpenShift. |

x10hosting may suspend your account if you're inactive for too long. Either use OpenShift or log on every once in a while.
Note: It only deletes the site around a month of inactivity. The suspension can easily be nullified after logging in. |

| It may get suspended around two weeks or so in. Once again, easily deflected if logging in once every couple weeks. |

| @drhax We're looking at only 25 or 30 KB of disk space on this site. Simple small get and post requests every 10 or so minutes, at peak every 3 minutes (based off of my game's activity). |

if it's only accessible from your server side scripts there's literally no issue with hosting the server yourself.
get Apache/MySQL/PHP/whatever you like and host it yourself. |

@drhax Just not cool with the idea of my server going down. You see, my parents are divorced and I switch houses each week. That would mean setting up a remote connection to my server whenever I'm at the other house, which is just complicated... A last resort.
Checking out OpenShift right now, already looks promising. |

Heroku or Openshift. Cloud9 (c9(dot)io) is good for prototyping//testing but Openshift and//or Heroku is good to host with.

| OpenShift: So... would it make sense to connect this to my GitHub? Or is it useless since I want my PHP source private? |

that's fair enough. just as a question, why don't you pay for proper hosting? not even a $5 VPS or something? |

OpenShift: For some reason I can't connect to view server side errors. In cmd prompt:
rhc shh myapp
returns:
DL is deprecated, please use Fiddle The command 'rhc shh myapp' is not recognized. See 'rhc help' for a list of valid commands.
It's all set up and configured properly. No clue. |

| ^Free for 30 days. Requires a credit card among other things to sign up. Not really a decent suggestion for OP since OP has expressly stated that the solution must be free. |

| I didn't sign up with a credit card and I've been using it for way more than 30 days. It all depends on where you sign up at. |
