I got really bored so...
It was December 23rd, the day of Christmas eve. I, Major POH, was assigned to guarding the walls. It was a dull task, and with snow falling like rain, I felt I went literally blind. I saw another soldier, his uniform saying he was a SSGT. "So, SSGT, how are you doing today" I asked him. He replied "Bored, and feeling dull". It was typical of him. He always felt bored while not in action, and with this it was even boring. Suddenly, a recruit ran up. "Sir, we can't get communications with the outer outposts!". Our base was designed in a way, so that there was a main base surrounded by cliffs on three sides. Our best snipers were stationed there, along with some guards. Further from the base, there were six outposts, known as the inner outposts, that relay information from the outer posts, and serve as a defensive force. There were twelve outer posts, which acted as the information unit. These outposts were furthest away from the main fort, and would be the first to notice if an enemy attacked. They also served as a force to weaken an army. "Probably because of this cursed snowstorm" I said. I would soon realize that I was horrible wrong.
"Major, we contacted the inner outposts, who said they also couldn't communicate" the recruit had said. Now that was strange. The inner outposts weren't too far from the outer outposts, and communications shouldn't be a problem even in the worst of blizzards. "Tell the inner posts to sound a team of scouts to see whats wrong" I ordered. The recruit had replied that the inner posts had already done that, and sent them six hours ago, and for some reason still hasn't come back. It was only a two hour drive to the outer posts from the inner posts, going at thirty five mph. "Also sir, a team consisting of a Lieutenant and a squad of twenty soldiers were dispatched the outpost to see whats going on an hour ago". I nodded thoughtfully, that was a logical idea. ....Finally, after my fourth hour, someone was sent to relieve me. I went to the cafeteria to grab something to eat. I heard some mutterings that we were about to be attacked but paid no attention. Then I heard someone yell. "THE LIEUTENANT HAS COME BACK!". I quickly finished my meal and ran outside, and sure enough the lieutenant has come back. But something was terribly wrong. His squad, originally had twenty soldiers, now had eight. I walked towards him. "What happened" I asked. He stared at me, with a cold stare. "We were ambushed by ONI"
This situation was not good. ONI was a group who were dedicated to domination. They had assaulted many groups in the past, but an alliance between large groups had brought them down. Now that they were on the rise, they were at their goal again. "What happened to the outposts lieutenant?" I inquired. He replied with those eyes staring at me" They were...obliterated with Quadrant bombs" Quadrant bombs were bombs that took ages to make. Once they were dropped, they created a large explosion, that dispersed smaller bombs inside them. These bombs were globally banned, as they could wipe out a large military base with just one drop. Then a recruit came up to us. "SIR, COMMUNICATIONS TO THE INNER BASES HAS BEEN LOST". I felt a surge of panic, and realized that they were going to assault us. "RAISE THE ALARM TO LEVEL FIVE." Our base had a security code. Level one is what it's like every day. Just soldiers patrolling the base. Level two is a bit more dramatic, it means that foreigners had come to our base, so we raise the security. Level three is when a small raid is about to come. Level four is when we're under a full attack. We raise the security the maximum. Level 5, well, I don't even need to explain it anymore. I soon heard airplanes in the distance.
"Get the AA guns ready, post soldiers on the walls, tell the snipers to get ready, and make sure some elites are ready." This was the worst time for an attack, as the colonel was gone, and I was one of the highest ranks, other than the two other majors. One major was patrolling the cliffs, while the other was overseeing all the vehicles we had. I went towards the walls, to get a better look. It did not look good. A team of ONI planes were flying to us, around a mile away. We had AA guns though, and hopefully they did not know that. I also saw vehicles in the distance. Good thing the snow had slowed down a bit. "I hope Innovated isn't an idiot" I muttered to myself. At that moment, tanks and gun vehicles were storming out of the garage. Great, now we had a sufficient force. "MAJOR SIR!" A recruit was saying to me. "WHAT ARE OUR NEX-" BAM! A sniper bullet slammed into the side of his head, and he fell of the wall, dead. "RETURN FIRE" I shouted. I slammed into the ground, and grabbed a sniper, laying on the wall. I peered quickly into the scope, and saw a sniper aiming his gun at me, and fired. I was a second quicker, and he died before his pulled his trigger. Then, another bullet slammed into my gun, destroying the scope. Oh, it was going to be a long day...
I crawled to the ladder, propped against the wall, and climbed down. I looked overhead, and saw the planes we had stationed flying overhead. "We're winning!' I heard a shout. Then something went terribly wrong. The west section of the wall had a gaping hole in it, and I saw the shadow of a tank. ONI soldiers were storming through. TRA soldiers had formed a barricade, and were trying to stop them, but the tank destroyed it. I quickly climbed down the ladder, and took out my assault rifle. The snow had started to fall more quickly, and bullets were flying everywhere. I soon saw the elites streaming out, one carrying a bazooka, and in one expert shot, destroyed the tank. I aimed towards them, and started to shoot. Their soldiers started to fall like flies in a fire. It was strange though, how come they had no reinforcements. Our planes seemed to be equal with the ONI planes. And then it dawned on me. "EVERYONE EVAC-" I started to shout, but then it came. The sound of something heavy started to fall on the main building. A quadrant bomb. |
