Go try the game 'The Conquerers' by berezaa, originally by hathelper. I'm entirely new to scripting, and I wanted to make that kind of game. So, can anyone help me? I don't want the scripts made, I want to know how they are made. I get maybe, a quarter of the bare basics of scripting. I want to learn everything about it, and to do so; I went to tons of sites, roblox official sites, and video tutorials.. I even looked at real Lua videos, I understand none of it. So is there any guides for completely new beginners? Or could anyone here offer lessons? I have tons of questions about what everything does. I know what the basic things in studio do(though not all) and that didn't help me script any better.
The thing I attempted to make first was a soldier that would target a specific enemy based on their team color. I wanted to make a tool where players in that team could control their own soldiers, this didn't work. I couldn't even write down 3 lines of code without wondering what I myself am doing. So please. If anyone can help me. Or recommend me to try something else, and what I can do specifically to up my knowledge; it'd be much appreciated. |

Why? You HAVE to start small. |

| I have my soul set on a major goal. And I have no clue where to start! I don't know what types of things I should be attempting to make. I can make bricks move on their own. I can get a dropper to drop bricks and a conveyer to destroy them. I get some of the easy stuff, but the rest is a headache, and I don't know the best methods of learned no it. ): |

| If you're struggling and have no clue where to start, that means you aren't ready. |

Okay you can have an ultimate goal but you aren't going to come out of the gates with your first game as a massive real time strategy.
First you need to make really basic and simple games/projects so you can wrap your head around each individual concept. |

@Des
That's no excuse? I'm that old too?
You learn by doing projects and what not. Sadly there's no wiki article on "how to build a real time startegy from start to finish exactly how you want it without knowing any scripting at all!" |

| There is no point in trying to do something 'advanced' like that when you don't even know the basics; trust me there is no point. Learn the basics then come back to this idea. |

You should start out small and not make it harder for yourself than it already is, Try to learn more on the roblox wiki, scriptinghelpers.org.
If that doesn't help try looking at the YouTubers that show you how to code like, Peaspod, friaza, and AlvinBloxx.Also try having Roblox Studio open while you watch the video to copy it and listen carefully what everything means!
Keep trying, i was once like you before! but now i'm more like a expert at it even though i closed my places down due to the messy code and some of it doesn't even work because i didn't have enough knowledge to make it work. |

Well some things I would recommend learning before making a large game:
- ModuleScript's - FilteringEnabled (This includes learning how to render things on each client separately. - Server script vs Client script (Learning what needs to be processed on both to keep it efficient, safe, and working. - RemoteEvent/RemoteFunctions -- Needed when using FilteringEnabled - Body force objects (E.g BodyGyro) |

| Don't bother trying to build a game if you're totally new, it'll end up confusing and convoluted. Instead, try building smaller things, like an automatic door, or a character customization menu. Eventually, you'll learn how to put it all together (like a puzzle) and make an awesome game. |
