there is no evidence to support that hypothesis we all have cones that function in the same way and differentiate between the same wavelengths (though color blind people have dysfunctional/missing rod(s)) there should be no reason for our perception of it to be totally different although it is possible that some of us see the world in lighter shades or darker but not by much this is just speculation based on the adaptations of having different eye colors

"but black and white would have to be the same to make sense"
black and white are not technically colors, this is true from a scientific standpoint, they are different from colors i mean look at colors and shades as two different scales on a 2-dimensional chart

ok i'll rephrase this what if all of the brightnesses are the same but the colors are different
for example: blue is green, green is red, red is blue bright blue would be bright red from someone else's view
so if you said "wow that color is so bright" then it would still be bright from someone else's view
but if you said "wow that color is so blue" the other person would think youre talking about their red |

it doesnt work that way we have the same rods to receive wavelengths of light in our eyes the only way you might see colors differently is having some sort of defect like color blindness or tetrachromacy

"or thats what they want you to think"
you literally sound like a conspiracy theorist face it there is not even a reason for us to see colors differently in the way described here we see colors for a reason and if we saw them differently that would actually be detrimental we would not evolve that way it makes no sense our rods are structured in the same way so there is literally no reason why we would interpret different wavelengths of light differently it makes no sense its like saying someone might see a square as a circle when you see it as an octagon

| no, the square and circle thing is different because if you saw someone touching the edge of a a circular shaped object it would look like their hand is going through a square shaped object |

a square is a square 570 nm is 570 nm (wavelengths) the end you cant change the facts with philosophical pseudoscience

Eqestru, I like you, because you give me a glimpse of what a person who knows how to counter conspiracy theorists is like. That comforts me, because people really do do anything to blame something on big groups or crazy things. Even if some of it may be true, some act like they know more than they do.

we perceive it as 570 nm that is how just how we perceive squares as squares do you not get it yet you might not know what a square is but you would still perceive it as a square same with 570 nm

"dont guys see differently than girls tho"
im majoring in psychology this was actually discussed in class once its actually a psychological effect guys do not see color differently from girls like in actuality but it is interpreted differently (not perceived differently!!!) and this is often due to upbringing too many guys can interpret wavelengths of visible light more accurately like girls do and some girls wont do it as well although guys are more likely to be color blind while girls more likely to be tetrachromats but thats beside the point were thinking of something else here

not perceive, i mean they dont actually SEE it differently, but they are smarter about it and are able to pick out the differences more precisely do you know what i mean now?
