The War Series: Leadership Guide v.1
1:\\] Introduction
The goal of this leadership guide is to help direct those who wish to become a better leader in The War Series. This guide will accomplish such by both explaining leadership in The War Series as well as classifying the ranks within The War Series. Remember; though ranks do matter, mutual respect is required for everyone.
There are many different ways to view a leader and his accompanying task of leadership; in The War Series, we undertake the responsibility and duty of leadership as seriously as we possibly can. To ensure that The War Series has a good set of leaders, we have a system set up to help distinguish those with potential leadership capabilities while training others who want to strengthen their leadership skills. For some people, the role of “leadership” is merely holding a high position; for others, “leadership” is merely using power to benefit themselves; for The War Series, however, true leadership is a lifestyle committed to guiding others and helping them to accomplish the harder tasks of life.
By continuing to read, you agree that, in order to help further both The War Series as well as your fellow Marines, you will undergo the responsibility of leadership by putting others above yourself. You will take your position, whatever it may be, with the uttermost of seriousness, and you will strive (whenever possible) to be active in your duties and responsibilities that are listed below.
2:\\] First Steps
The first steps to become a leader is fairly simple; it starts from the very moment you click the “Join Group” button. From there, you must take it upon yourself to learn Basics, complete the required tasks in order to become Recruit, and then move on to a promising The War Series career.
Recruits are trained on specific aspects of The War Series, all of which are essential to learn for these careers that have in front of them. To not learn these aspects would be detrimental to their future career. These tasks act as a basic knowledge guide; the information they are taught is a required basis that every Marine must know and remember.
A Recruit must show up to basic events (trainings, raids, defenses, etc.) and must also prove themselves by being active, loyal, and deserving of the Marine title. After they are prepared, they will meet up with a Second Lieutenant or higher to be oathed in and bestowed title of Marine. No recruit should feel unappreciated if someone else becomes a Marine before them as there are numerous small (yet essential) characteristics that ultimately decide the making of a true Marine.
3:\\] Graduation
As a Recruit, you can either graduate to the rank of Private or the much harder rank of Private First Class. If the latter rank is not currently available as an option and only Private is available, you may be given the opportunity from an officer to remain a Recruit in order to prove your worth and possibly later obtain the rank of Private First Class.
Upon graduation, you not only earn the title of Marine, but you also bear the responsibility of leading as an example. Failure to uphold the bearings and behaviour of a Marine can—and ultimately will—result in a demotion if not exilement. Please remember, as of November 2015, the responsibility of Private First Class has been raised along with the addition of now being able to co-host an official The War Series event whilst being observed by a Lance Corporal+.
4:\\] Lance Corporal and NCO Schooling
Lance Corporal is the “bridge to leadership” rank, allowing you to learn and evolve into an NCO. You will most likely be supervised and taught by an (S)NCO or even the Commandant himself. As of November 2015, the expectations associated with the rank of Lance Corporal have also been raised along with set requirements. There is now also a rank limit of no more than twenty five Lance Corporals total, excluding any allied command. Lance Corporal is not a “+1 rank” and is not earned purely by being active and loyal.
Requirements: - Served at least one month in The War Series. - Served at least two weeks as a Private First Class. - Have a private talk with an SNCO/Officer and or the Commandant himself about information and eligibility. - Filling out an application and passing all basic requirements. - Rank limit must not be filled. [There are only twenty five Lance Corporals allowed at a time, not including allies.]
5:\\] NCO
Though most of the Enlisted (Enlist through Private First Class) take up the majority of the group, the NCO’s make up the spinal disks, making sure the “backbone” of the Marine Corps is in line. An NCO is held to high expectations and must vigorously train both themselves as well as those around them.
Non-Commissioned Officer: - Intimately works with and molds Marines - Focuses more on behavioral aspects of both collective groups as well as individuals - Personally leads events - Gives specific commands dictated by personal judgement and experience (which varies depending on the immediate situation)
During the ranks of NCO (Corporal through Staff Sergeant), an NCO must carefully think about a very important choice: either become an officer through OCS or become a Senior Enlisted.
6:\\] SNCO
SENIOR NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER
You want to talk about the real muscle of the Corps? The Senior NCO are not just your typical NCO; they have been brutally shaped and experienced through all types of combat, war, tactics, and more.
Senior Non-Commissioned Officer: - Works with every Marine and gives advice, even to HICOM - Can organise even higher events such as raids and specific rank trainings - Eligible to teach and supervise OCS - Ability to promote and demote worthy Marines
7:\\] OCS and Officer Eligibility
Officer Candidate School is used for training NCO’s into becoming Junior Officers. Classes are hosted by either a SNCO or Field Officer+. Class details are restricted to the general public.
Officer Eligibility To become a student of TWS’s OCS program you must meet certain requirements and fill out an application.
Requirements: - Served at least half a year in The War Series. - Served at least a month as an NCO. - Private talk with an SNCO/Field Officer AND the Commandant himself about information and eligibility. - Filling out an application and passing all basic requirements. - Commandant and The Staff’s seal of approval.
9:\\] Officers
Officers are the brain of the Corps; they deal with core problems and issues, promote/demote people, and oath others in. Most of all, they regulate tasks, designate assignments, and generally make sure the Corps is good and healthy.
Metaphorically speaking, Junior Officers are Sophomores. They have some experience, similar to a Freshmen in college, but they are not as knowledgeable as a Senior.
Senior Officers on the other hand are those who understand everything; they essentially have experienced similar a Gunnery Sergeant. Though Colonel may be the true living, breathing example of a Senior Officer, most of the classification starts at Captain and Major, where they turn into Field Officers.
10:\\] The Staff
The Staff is mostly a secret organization—similar to a Board of Chiefs or a Joint Chiefs of Staff. They influence The War Series and make sure that everything is in service. Everything is brought to the Staff (including this guide) to ensure that everything is top notch, clean, and polished.
11:\\] Notable Figures
The Original Three
- Spargon Vyrn (Spart23) Part of the original three. Currently a Sergeant Major in The War Series.
- Deadriat Part of the original three. A superb officer for his time.

=To all Marines of The War Series, Past, Present, and Future=
Once a Marine, always a Marine. You have shed countless drops of blood, sweat, and tears to grow up as a diehard Marine. Not a boy, but a man. Not a girl, but a true warrior. We have lived together, fought together, and as a true family, we will die together. Each one of you has built this fortification of friends up to where it is today. Whether old-breed, current, or fresh-blood, you are part of a bigger picture, one that has yet to see a final dawn, one that may never see the darkness of death until long past eternity. More than mere friends and comrades, as true brothers and sisters, we will live for each other long past the bitter end of death.
As always, RESPECT - SERVE - HONOR
Commandant Valentin Virgil (Guilbrob000) 2nd Lieutenant Legoflame5000 The Staff
