You're considered a boot until you deploy bud. and Combat engineers are with the infantry. Also feel free to look me up |

you're considered boot until you stop acting like a boot dude
combat engineers may deploy with infantry but they don't go on patrols with them

| No just because you stop acting like it doesn't mean you're not a boot. Where do you think "boots have left the ground" came from? It's when people get off their plane because you're no longer a boot after that. How long have you been in anyways? |

BOG and boot are not the same thing
a boot is someone fresh out of basic or AIT that still has the fresh soldier/marine mentality
you can usually find them helping recruiters at high schools or at the mall dressed in their ASUs |

We actually do patrol with them also, we don't have to but most do it by choice or volunteer to go with them. We're the ones sweeping for IED's and such so the Grunts don't blow up.. We also go through the exact same training as grunt also
Boot camp - 3 months School of infantry - ITB - 9 weeks MOS school - 9 weeks
Combat engineers just switched over from MCT to ITB because the corps is trying to switch the job to front line with the rifleman and change the MOS number from 1371 to 0371. |

i'm sorry but this is just incorrect
you'll most likely be setting up sandbags or placing c-wire at the FOB
if you do go outside the wire it will not be with the intent to fight and kill the enemy
remember, not everyone can do an infantryman's job, but the infantryman can do everyone's job (-: |

| The Army must view boots completely different then, because in the corps you're a boot until you deploy. We just call them super boots if you're right out of basic or MCT. |

"because in the corps you're a boot until you deploy."
that must be unit specific then because my marine buddies have the same definition for it as we do |

believe me dude we love our engineers in 142nd but they're always the ones that speak the most about how they shot 11/11 at the SAW range with no bipod or whatever
the only people more POG then them are the cooks
i swear to god every time you start a conversation with a cook they're the first to claim combat experience |

i dont mean to take the piss out of your MOS man
if my CO would let me reclass after my 6 years are up i would
because not a day goes by in the infantry where you don't wish you were literally any other MOS |

"You guys have to do a 20k hike at AIT? That's what we did -.- west coast also."
we did a 12 mile ruck with a 65 pound ruck sack while carrying litters with sand bags on them and ammo cans/water jugs filled with dirt as part of the "bayonet march" to graduate OSUT and earn our cross rifles
i'm a specialist, which is e-4 in the army |
