SHIP SYSTEMS BOOTING, PLEASE WAIT WARMLY.
.
..

SHIP SYSTEMS BOOTED, WELCOME USER: DUY LE
SHIP RUNNING ON UTOPIA OS
PLEASE ALERT AN ADMINISTRATOR IF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS NOT IN ORDER.

[Your name?: Duy Le]

[Your gender?: M]

[Your age?: 30]

[What do you look like, and what are you wearing?: I stand at 5'5, weighing in about 135. Some would say I'm quite scrawny. I have dark brownish, ruffled up hair. If you first saw me, you would think that I just woke up, out of bed, but I look like so all the time. I have bags under my eyes, with thick glasses. I wear a button-up with some black slacks. I slouch a bit, with slightly bad posture. If you looked at my right eyebrow, you would see that part of it missing. That is, at least, how I would describe myself.]

[Why are you leaving the Earth?: I am leaving for the very same reason a boy with a magnifying glass would go outside, simply to learn.]

[Do you recall your past life? If so, speak about it. If the memories are too bitter, then let your past be left unsaid.: I was born into the middle class. Average kid in an average family. I lived a normal-ish life, some issues at home, school issues, let's just say there were many issues in my life. There was one day in my life that was quite notable. It happened in school, when a bully brought a lighter to school. He was just fooling around and I was walking by, I was usually a target by him. He brought the lighter up to my face and threatened me, but a teacher came by and startled the bully causing him to accidentally burn off part of my eyebrow. Soon after, the bully was suspended and ect. I cared about my academics quite a bit back then, I got into a university and left with a Ph.D and masters. When I heard of Utopia, I decided to go just to perform some private experiments in space and such.]

---

What is it that pushes Man to leave its home of Dark? Well, there are many things, of course. But for you, it's the pursuit of knowledge. Is this a selfish goal? What do you hope to learn in the vast reaches of space? What is it you think you'll do with that knowledge? Keep it all to yourself, for your own benefit? Or, share it with the creatures of Dark you left behind on Earth? Time will tell.

And so, here you are. You're sat in the fairly-cramped single-seat cockpit of your newly-bought spaceship. This cockpit is located at the front of the ship. In front of you is the windshield, allowing you to see out into the ship hangar. Also in front of enter stick for controlling your ship. At your feet are two rudder pedals. On your left armrest is the throttle, and on the right armrest are several buttons with different friendly colors. From your VR training, you know that these buttons are meant to operate the holographic computer, as well as actually switching it on.

Although the area is cramped, there's enough room for you to get up and head to the other rooms within the ship. Though, there aren't very many other rooms.

SHIP ROOMS:
[Cockpit]
[Crew Quarters 1/2]*
[Cargo Hold]
[Kitchen/Sitting Area]
[Bathroom]**
*In order to recruit companions onto your ship, you must have enough room for them and yourself in your Crew Quarters. There are two spots open in your Crew Quarters, and you are currently taking up one of them. The Crew Quarters, like the rest of your ship, can be upgraded.
**The Bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. It has a toilet and a shower.

The holographic computer boots itself up, and its screen pops up in front of your windshield, though it isn't opaque and you can still see through to your windshield. Currently, the holographic screen is blue, with white text on it.

WELCOME
PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING BEFORE TAKING FLIGHT

The screen, and the holographic keyboard which had popped up in front of you, both switch to a grey color. The white letters on both the screen and keyboard become slightly lighter to provide easier readability on the grey screen. Soon after, the darkness of your ship is illuminated by green interior lights which have just switched on. Someone knocks on the front of your windshield and holds up a sign with "PREPARE FOR TAKEOFF" written on it.

Your ship is slowly brought to an upward incline where the front of it is pointed towards the sky. The ceiling opens up, and the windshield tints itself automatically so you aren't blinded by the sun. All that's left for you to do is push the throttle up and leave this planet. Soon, you'll be off in space. Exploring, learning, and hopefully not getting killed while you're up there.

You reminisce about something or other, then push the throttle forward. You hear the rumbling of the ship's engines, followed by the roar of the ship being propelled upward. You feel yourself pushed back into the seat of the ship as it clears the clouds, then the atmosphere, then the bounds of the planet Earth. Soon, the throttle moves back to its default position, and the ship rests in space peacefully.

All around you, you can see stars, as well as that one big one that isn't fun to look at. Earth looks smaller from up here. A holographic minimap pops up on the ship's dash, showing all the planets around. These are the planets you've always known about that are present in this particular solar system. Of course, these planets are all dead. No life at all. If you'd like to visit other galaxies or solar systems, you'd simply need to open up your holographic computer and see which galaxies or solar systems are nearby.

I turn on the holographic computer to see the different areas I can visit. After a bit of button pressing, I choose the course set to go to the Andromeda Galaxy.

You recall that the Andromeda Galaxy no longer exists. All galaxies, besides the Milky Way, have been renamed according to the name it was given by the most intelligent of the alien species living there.

As such, you set your course to what's known as "Vilsarth" or the "Vilsarth Galaxy." This is the same as the Andromeda Galaxy, but with its new and politically-correct name. Once the course is set, you push the throttle up to engage the warp drive. The warp bubble forms around your ship, and within a few seconds, you've arrived at Vilsarth.

After the bubble collapses, the holographic screen shows what locations are nearby that you may visit

>Yorslaw-V Space Station
>Planet Lopaol
>The Vilsarth University of Higher Learning
>Planet Mnik
>The Cabin

(So is the Milky Way now the Human Galaxy or something?)

I press the button for Planet Mnik. While I was waiting, I checked on my luggage with my supplies and such.

("All galaxies, besides the Milky Way, have been renamed")

You select Mnik, and the ship's holographic minimap marks it out for you. There is no autopilot to speak of on this ship, so you are unable to check on your luggage. You push the throttle up and steer your ship towards the planet. You can't see much of the actual planet when you arrive, as it's surface is covered with a mist that hides and obscures. Holographic text pops up on your dash to inform you that it's safe to land anywhere on the planet.

The entire planet is covered in mist, no part of it is really clear. So, you land at a random spot on the planet. You find landing to be rather easy, thanks to the VR lessons you had taken back on Earth. When you land, you find yourself in... well, you're not very sure. It's extremely misty even in here, and it's difficult to see. Holographic text pops up on the dash to tell you that this planet has oxygen, and also a fairly pleasant temperature.

(You need to start giving more than one-line responses. You also need to explain what exactly it is you're bringing outside to experiment with.)

(Ok ok)

I get up from the cockpit and stretch around. All the recycled air in the spaceship made me feel really stuffy. I couldn't wait to get out for some fresh air. I opened up my luggage to get some supplies to bring out. Among the supplies I grabbed, were some rations, water, a hammer, a trower, and some test tubes.

(I will assume you meant "trowel" instead of "trower." Please correct me if I'm wrong. In order to prevent deus ex machina-esque events, I will require you to list out what is in your character's luggage.)

You grab a bottle of water, hammer, trowel, and two test tubes. You don't have any rations in your luggage. This is largely due to the fact that people don't typically pack rations in their luggage. In fact, people don't typically have rations in general.

Having procured your supplies and putting them in your pockets and waistband, you head out into the misty outside. Almost immediately upon stepping foot outside, you hear a frightened cry from somewhere in the mist.

(Yeah, typo, sorry. I pack rations in my luggage because I can. Food is useful. Unless they restrict the stuff I can take with me.)

I think about what is in my luggage...

Rations (Because I can)
A toolkit with the normal tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, ect.
A few sets of clothes
Some silverware for occasions (silverware can be used anywhere for all occasions)
A few mementos and such of home
A laptop
A kit of science supplies, magnifying lenses, measuring sticks, beakers, test tubes, ect.
Some sets of chemicals for testing
Basic toiletries and such
Oh, and a package of ramen

All of a sudden, I heard the cry. The cry of distress startled me for a moment, I locked up the ship and began to run through the mist toward the sound. I wondered what could've caused such a cry.

"You don't have rations."
"I have rations because I can."
Stop. Don't be an idiot. When I explain to you that you can't do something or have something, that means you can't do something or have something. Don't say "oh, I just can." Don't be some whiny three-year-old. Rations aren't a consumer product that you can go to the store and buy. So no, you can't have rations. Don't try to tell me you have rations after I tell you that you don't have rations.

Your updated luggage:
A few sets of clothes
Some silverware for occasions (silverware can be used anywhere for all occasions)
A few mementos and such of home
A laptop
A kit of science supplies, magnifying lenses, measuring sticks, beakers, test tubes, ect.
Basic toiletries and such
A package of ramen

The toolkit has been removed (this includes your hammer, but not your trowel) because there is no reason, at all, whatsoever for your character to have a toolkit. Your character isn't a mechanic. Don't try to godmod by giving your character basic knowledge of everything and also the supplies to do everything. The chemicals for testing have been removed because that doesn't even make any sense for your character. Chemicals for testing? You can test chemicals at home, you don't need to go into space for that. You're also insanely vague with what chemicals you have, and chemicals can easily be used by your character for OP godmodding purposes. You do not get to start with them.

---

The ship locks itself whenever you exit it, and unlocks whenever you approach. It is a marvel of ingenuity. Most ships have a system similar to this one. If you ever recruit Crew Members, you can add them to the list of people allowed free access in and out of your ship.

You run through the mist, almost tripping over loose sticks in the progress. You soon arrive at the source of the sound. A young, light-skinned girl with pointed ears is lying on the ground, seeming to be hiding from something. Slowly, she looks up at you.
"G-get away from me Darkling!" she cries out.
