| no i'm not a safety space intersectional feminists with a gender studies degree i just recognize the painfully obvious and abysmal gender inequality in games. female armor constantly gets more revealing as you level up the "damsel in distress" trope is 20 or so years old now and still running strong (how many mario games have been released again?) and people wonder why women are repulsed by this culture. how sad. if you want to baselessly call me out as a troll go ahead i'll be sure to ignore you ;) |

I'm having very conflicted feelings with this.
On the one hand, you said you aren't a safe space radfem
on the other hand, you just said their stuff.

Not all recent Mario games are rescuing princesses, they're also becoming playable.
And I'm totally fine with objectification, the only problem I have with it is not enough dudes. |

| nobody should be "objectified." subjects act on things, objects are "acted upon." don't encourage it. |

I disagree, and will continue to encourage it.
As long as it isn't discriminating any particular gender, it's fine imo. |

"female armor constantly gets more revealing"
Have you seen how women dress these days? Even the most revealing chainmail bikinis or whatever are more covering.
Women are constantly used as damsels in distress because women are physically and mentally weaker than men when it comes to conflict, men are soldiers and women are not. So if you're going to be telling a story of one person trying to rescue somebody it'll almost always be a man rescuing a woman.
Plus women are a minority of gamers, a very small group, why would companies try and sell to the minority rather than the majority which are men?

Explains why female snipers were just as effective as the male ones on the Russian front in WW2, no? |

@GoBack
You'd actually be surprised if you were to look at the ratio of female gamers to male gamers is.

"wait how is it sad" I'll just sum it up cleanly... - Women. - Treated like "objects."
Y'know, there are quite a lot of games that you play as a girl too. |

Define "Gamer" Because I assure you females are only a decent proportion of gamers if we count phone gamers.
"Explains why female snipers were just as effective as the male ones on the Russian front in WW2, no?"
They made up 50% of all russian snipers in ww2?
Wew lad

"i dont know, samus kicks ass in smash." While wearing high heels?
Personally, I think it's not as bad as back then, it's slowly getting better. I wouldn't say it's legit sad now, considering we're getting a lot less damsel in distress type characters now compared to then. (Ex: Faith from Mirror's Edge and Lara Croft from Tomb Raider) However, the damsel in distress type characters are slowly evolving as well. Peach kicks ass in Smash, Zelda takes up the persona of Sheik and adventures alongside him in Ocarina of Time. I think as time goes on, we'll start getting more and more genders, races, orientations, etc show properly in videogames as the demographic for games widen and aren't targeted toward the stereotypical white male closeted in his basement. |

Raiden kicks ass in high heels, and he's a guy, so what's your point? |

They weren't 50% of the snipers, but they were still getting the same average kills as the male ones, and were no less well respected by their fellow soldiers.
Same with female Russian pilots during the war. |
