Obviously, the subject is an exaggerate to grab your attention. Now that I have it, my real point is that I feel like role-players such as myself are having hard times fitting with others.
I'm seeing some really good, like amazing stories going on right now such as Fractured and Tear in the Multiverse, but half the time I have no idea exactly what is going on and the last thing I want to do is goof up and look like an imbecile in front of everyone with some ridiculous text. I know other people that feel like this, too, and it kind of depresses me to see all of this potential for a good time just wasted.
If you actually read this, thanks for your time. And if you can relate to this, or has any suggestions for help, please leave a comment. |

| It's deader than it was in my time, and that was 2013-2014; not even the best of it, according to the grumpy old people. Or, grumpier older people. |

| I have the same problem with not knowing what's going on. I don't like to start RPs once they've already begun, it's too confusing. And sometimes I just don't get the plot at all. D: |

I come from the 09 era (This be an alt.), and I can tell you it's steadily became an elitist society. Originally, everyone sucked so who cared? It was a Kids site, and that's how it was treated. We all played, and we marveled at anything, even if the OP had crap grammar. It was a good time then.
That said, the kids from then didn't move on. Now you have the old ones, and those who joined at later dates who formed their skills and honed them over YEARS in the same environment as those who are just starting out. The atmosphere is not the same as it was before. Instead of fun and games, where if you sucked as long as you tried someone would at least join or give you advice on how to better, now you are ridiculed for the effort unless you get joiners, or are purely ignored.
That said, the best thing I can recommend is coming back here later. This is a society dedicated to moderate tier role-players, with the ego of top tier role-players. /tg/ is okay if you don't mind asking around. I personally started in RoM, (Runes of Magic.) But the true humble roots began in Runescape. Not that I recommend you start with either, as both are no longer the games they used to be. However, the point is that there are other areas, much more friendly and open to newbies than here.
In conclusion, you are better off finding a new place. While yes, you MAY have the chance to get some help, and someone "important" (This often fluctuated based on RPs and Reputation. Post Count too, but to a more minor degree.) Here, you have to be established, or have someone willing to help establish you to be worth anything. Here, you are either in or out. It became a popular society for the normal rejects.
TL;DR- Run and don't come back. Better places out there.
(Not to leave you up crack creek without a paddle, try your local game store. There's normally someone. If not, try out roll20. More professional, but they're also a bit nicer. If none of that works, try here as a last resort and ask around for someone to sorta teach you whats up. Or make content until they correct it to their preferred style.) |

| Here's the thing. I encourage the first time, new RPers to make mistakes. It's their first time, and I sure aren't perfect either. New RPers shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes. Just know what you have to fix for next time, and we'll help you along the way. |

"I sure aren't"
This phrase makes me think too hard.
I always wan't to stick an "am" inside.
Or replace the contraction with "am not" because it would've made more sense. |

| As we all probably know, this is an actual, serious problem in ATF. I know there's already a bunch of threads on that already, so I don't want to dedicate this to that humiliating game. But then there's also places like Kingdom Life, which is EXTREMELY lax in rules, but yet there are still people, even the ones that can actually role-play well, who ignore others and basically insult them for just trying. I'm always willing to help someone who needs it, no matter how honestly terrible they are. (Unless they FRP, such as going against critical lore or insta-something, then I can't role-play with them.) |

| ROBLOX Roleplay is dead, it's just a bunch of one-million robux, mega vip, 2.0, nike hoodie, air jordan shorts and pants wearin' ODers doing inappropriate actions on a KIDS game |

| The problem, in my opinion, is the fact that many role-plays require you to be at least slightly well-known in the (role-playing) forum. It pretty much ruins every newcomers' experience, unless they do something to garner attention. |

Hey man, if you make a crappy roleplay, good luck getting joiners AND continuing on the RP. It's happened, sure, but can you honestly say it's not a better chance for success if you make a great roleplay, as opposed to good or lukewarm?
There's probably a reason people prefer well-written and thought-out roleplays. |

| To be honest, back in the days it really was a big elitist society. If you weren't up to everyone's standards, you got shunned off the board. This still happens today, and because of that, barely anything is accomplished outside of ISRPs and roleplays that have been going on for several years now from constant one liners. |

its not worth it to stay here literally most of the decent people left
all that's left are pretentious asses, bastards, bad writers who stagnate and don't take risks, and masochists like me. you'd be better off somewhere else. |
