Hi guys,
My computer's SSD is failing, less than 2 months after I got it with my first custom built PC.
I'm going to have to do something about it, but I don't know if I should risk this happening again by getting an SSD.
Anyways, should I get my computer's SSD replaced with a new one, or should I just use the 1TB hard drive I have (but it'll be slower)?

put the 1tb in and boot your favorite games and os from your ssd
send the ssd in for warranty, should take 2 weeks or a month
put the 1tb in
run linux or something for the time being (unless you really need your pc gaming)
i think steam will still let you load windows games onto your pc even if it's linux
when the ssd comes back, load the os and your best games |

solid states are objectively better
just send it to the manufacturer (not the retailer) and claim your warranty
once they get your new drive back, enjoy your loading times (rather, the lack thereof) |

I guess I'll stay with SSDs. Hopefully it was a defect in the SSD. HDDs run programs and windows nowhere near as fast as SSDs do. When I used the HDD as the main drive, it took over a minute for Windows to boot. That was partially because there was over 500GB of data on it, but that's not the point. With the SSD, the computer boots up in under 30 seconds.
I'd hate to get an HDD.
Also, I already do have the HDD installed. I use it to store certain files such as videos. It's incredibly reliable. It came with an old computer I got 4 years ago, and it's worked extremely well since.
Anyways, can't wait until I get a new SSD and this is all over.

The computer is still running at the moment. It seems to be running fine, and unless these things are unrelated, the device manager and disk management both say that the C:/ drive (the SSD) is health and working fine. In fact, there has been no decrease in speed. No issues with using the PC. Just that windows says something is wrong with the SSD.
Is there some software error going on and nothing is wrong, or is the SSD going to suddenly fail out of the blue and the computer will stop working?

| right now using ssds as your only storage is really stupid and you only have 480gb of space on the ssd lol that is hardly anything |

Buy another SSD, but buy it from Samsung. They are the best on making Solid State Drives. Do not buy it off of any other brands because they will die in one month, while Samsung lasts about two years of usage.

| Agreed with cohenvickers. I've never heard of the brand you bought OP. I definitely think Samsung is the way to go for SSDs. I'd recommend getting a new one from them if you have any further major issues, and make sure to research the differences between their Evo and Pro series SSDs to decide which would work best for you. |

@scs please don't ban me (a few mods will abuse their power if someone tries to counterargue them, so don't hurt)
but i'm surprised you've never heard of mushkin
i don't have any of their products, but i've heard they're good. |
