Proper title would be interest check.
A Medieval fantasy RP that revolves around Dragons. It would be limited to seven RPers, unless people are willing to RP as main villains under very strict circumstances. This is about telling a set story. If you don't like that, don't join it.
In this world, humans have long ago lost the ability to use magic by instinct. It is no longer a common thing, except among members of the military. It is rare to see a civilian mage.
This RP takes place in the kingdom of Veredas, which is the location of the last holy war, in which the ancient humans and the dragons fought together to forever seal away the Demon Races, 2,000 years ago. In this final war, the dragons disappeared, leaving behind seven ancient weapons. This was also when humans lost instinctive magic.
Since the disappearance of the dragons, and the sealing away of the Demon Races, 6 of the Seven Holy Weapons have become lost... However, one was kept. The Blade of Fohenisus, the Fire Dragon. Around this blade, a legendary academy for knights, mages, and warriors of the kingdom has been built, and a great city around that. At one point, this academy held a tournament to see who could pull the blade, but none prevailed.
In current times, Demons have once again appeared, led by a human sorcerer named Byron Maximillion. And they have declared war on the kingdom of Veredas...
In this RP, each player should have their own type of weapon, because each of the seven RPers will receive a Holy Dragon Weapon along with a Dragon partner at a different time. This would be heavily story driven, meaning that I will follow a bit more... strict set of rules. Yes, magic users will be allowed, but only two at the beginning. You get to choose the name of your Dragon, and what element they use. However, my character gets Fohenisus's Blade.
Again, this will be a more strict and a more story driven RP. You will be expected to follow my instructions. Don't be scared though, I won't bite.

| Huh. Seems interesting. While more strict role plays aren't usually something I like this one doesn't seem too bad. |

I don't think I'm strict enough in my RPs. That's why I fail at running them. But I'm hoping I can get this one to keep going by being a little less lax.

The title is very much misleading and will draw in people expecting ego bait as well as /repel/ a lot of the actually intelligent roleplayers. Not only that, but interest checks themselves end up being counterintuitive most times, as they lead ideas to be left there and rot while the threadmaster abandons them out of discouragement. Whatever potential there once was must surely be stripped away by now. This futile occurrence happens much too frequently, and into the graveyard of the forgotten these shall lie, on the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean.
You, sir, have failed immensely. |

Um, rock. Step back and take in just how hypocritical that statement was. You're kind of the reason that I'm afraid to post anything.
Yeah, sorry for the title. It's just that it feels like people have been ignoring me lately, in both RL and here. And that's the worse feeling. I at least want to be acknowledged as posting something.
Anyway, the reason my character get's to pull the sword is because he's the only solid main character yet. Also, he's actually my oldest character ever. The one story I tried writing before him was called Moon's Cry, and that main character was just... me.
Besides, like I said, heavily story driven.

Hey, it's okay. People know you're posting things. You don't need to go out of your way to make sure of that.
That said, make damn sure you don't mislead people, because you'll find that the more you try to go and seek for attention, the more of the WRONG kind of attention you'll get. I don't care what excuse you make for what you do- just make sure you don't mess up again, because you'll be tasting the consequences regardless of excuses.
We know you exist. You post. You say things. People notice. Make sure they notice you for the right stuff. It's not the end of the world if they don't say something back every time. |

Found myself lurking out or boredom this morning and found this thread Hello mega
"I don't think I'm strict enough in my RPs. That's why I fail at running them. But I'm hoping I can get this one to keep going by being a little less lax."
You're RPs fail for two reasons, mega #1: They're incapable of holding peoples attention for a long period of time #2: You are neglectful as both an OP, and a participant
RPs don't need to be strict to be successful Hell, strict RPs are a huge turn off to a lot of people The more freedom a person has the better If you want something more strict, make an ISRP

My only comment, mentioned by another somewhere in this thread, is that the cliché of being the 'one' occurs. But beyond this, it's a solid idea. I would only ask that if you were to make them receive Holy Dragon Weapons, make it happen in a way that if they can miss, or potentially never get the weapon.
(Let's say the element is water, and it's hidden on this little ice platform deep in the ocean. You set the rumors, and even give the Player a reason to be there. Make it enticing, all like the water is low this day, and some platforms are there or something else. If they ignore all these things and just never seek out the sword, or ever investigate a single rumor about it, then they should just be a guy with no sword.)
I think overall this is one of the most inspired ideas I've seen in a long, long time. You've got my approval, make it happen and if I'm around by the time it comes out, I'll be posting a CS. |

You're right about the "one" cliche occuring, but there really isn't a prophecy for that to be a problem. The dragon themselves choose who uses their weapon.
The main party, or the main characters, will not necessarily be trying to find the Dragon Weapons. They will, however, end up getting them, regardless. The weapon will be tailored to character's current weapon. (Whatever weapon they use, the Dragon Weapon will be that weapon.)
(They are not necessarily swords. What makes the weapon a dragon weapon is the crystal that the dragon resides in- if the original weapon is destroyed, a new Dragon weapon can be created using the crystal.) |

| New sort of idea and outlook I have on cliches: They are used so much because they WORK. It's the people who dislike's them own fault for finding them boring. |
